Hotel Ilunion Mérida Palace

The hotel's decor perfectly reflects the local character, with a strong Roman feel. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the castle and the Roman bridge, and not far from museums and the Roman theater. The only downside during my stay was the room, which essentially had no window. While the room type and size were good, the inability to open the window for ventilation was a major flaw, significantly reducing the comfort of my stay. The room was on the third floor, and the window overlooked a common area on the third and a half floors, making ventilation impossible. Upon reflection, this defect is likely related to the booking platform. Ctrip has limited influence overseas, resulting in a lower probability of getting a good room. Combined with the platform's aggressive price-cutting tactics, the hotel had no choice but to quietly assign this room to its customers. Moreover, given the efficiency in Europe, changing rooms after check-in is almost impossible. I only discovered this problem at night and had to endure it for two nights. This three-month trip is nearing its end, and I never expected to stay in such a unique hotel in Mérida with a room that couldn't be ventilated – a real disappointment! A very beautiful castle hotel, right next to the central square. The rooms are clean and lovely, and the hotel boasts many classic design elements, with stunning tile paintings and columns in the lobby. The receptionists were very welcoming, friendly locals who spoke excellent English and even said "Hello" in Chinese. 👍 The rooms had kettles and large balconies, and the breakfast was plentiful. A truly amazing hotel. The hotel is a 2-10 minute walk from the surrounding ancient Roman sites; the reception provides maps and directions. There's a bell tower nearby that chimes every fifteen minutes, adding to the local atmosphere, but you can't hear it from inside the closed rooms. There are excellent Michelin-starred restaurants near the hotel, with English menus. We ordered shared dishes, and the food was exquisite. The waiters' English wasn't great, so we had to rely on a translator and guesswork to get our food. After booking, the hotel sent a booking email in Spanish, which I couldn't understand a bit.

The location is very central, within walking distance of almost all attractions. There's a church right next door, and a small square with various restaurants right outside! The hotel itself has a strong Roman feel, the beds are very comfortable, and the breakfast is quite good! Although driving in the central area is difficult, the hotel offers parking (for only €25). You can drive directly to the hotel entrance (ignore the sign indicating "Permitted Vehicles Only").

The picture shows the public area of ​​the hotel and outside the window, which happens to be a square. Every day, the square is full of people drinking all day long. The main scenic spots around are all within walking distance. The hotel's breakfast ham is very good. There is no per capita fee for a 4-year-old child, but a breakfast fee of more than ten euros is charged.
