InterContinental HALONG BAY RESORT by IHG

This has been the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Everything is 10/10 – it's tech-savvy, comfortable, the food is super delicious, the view is fantastic, the service is incredibly friendly. The whole hotel is fantastic; I would definitely stay again.

The environment is great, right by the sea. Check-in took way too long, and breakfast was super crowded, had to queue up. Overall, it's pretty good though.

The hotel boasts an excellent location and a lovely beach. We stayed in a sea-view room, and waking up to the sight of the ocean, beach, and islands right outside was incredible. The breakfast spread was very generous, and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The overall environment feels quite new and well-maintained. Highly recommended; it's a fantastic resort for a getaway.

InterContinental hotels always get full marks for their facilities when they're new. The staff are friendly, but they won't go out of their way to fulfill small requests. The seawater is too dirty to swim in, but you can still go beachcombing and catch tiny crabs. The breakfast is delicious.

The staff were very friendly and the room quality was excellent. The food and drinks were also delicious, offering great value for money. Thanks to the kind staff, our hotel stay was incredibly satisfying. It's a hotel I'd love to visit again with my family.

The room is very spacious and directly faces the 'Guilin of the Sea'. The restaurant offers a wide variety of food.

Overall, the hotel was decent, but the service for the price was truly underwhelming. First, because we had two children (without an extra bed), they wanted to charge an additional 300 RMB per night (600 RMB for two nights). The front desk even called it 'small money,' which made me feel like Chinese tourists are seen as easy targets. I have to thank Ctrip's Black Diamond concierge for their diligent communication with the hotel, which ultimately got the 600 RMB refunded to my bank card. Without Ctrip's excellent service, I probably would have been completely taken advantage of by this international brand. Then, right before checkout, my child accidentally broke a glass, and the hotel demanded 400,000 Vietnamese Dong (over 100 RMB) for compensation, claiming it was imported. Seriously, what kind of glass costs over 100 RMB? It really felt like they view Chinese tourists as big, fat pigs to be fleeced. The worst part is, we gave them 500,000 VND, and they still wanted to calculate taxes – taxes for a broken glass?! As a Black Diamond member, I've stayed in both budget and luxury hotels, and this experience was truly eye-opening. I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of this place!
