Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort

Easy to get to from the airport. Food was fantastic and unique at each restaurant. Close to great restaurants off property. Very quiet and peaceful.

The hotel was beautiful and had a great beach and lovely pools. There are several restaurants to choose from on-site; we ate at three of them, and they were all very good. I have a couple of complaints: they take the beach chairs away at 5:00 pm, even though there is plenty of beach time left, and the main pools close at 6:00 pm (one pool does stay open later). My biggest complaint, though, is that there is a 24% (of your room rate) "resort fee" which nobody tells you about till you check in. So we thought we had already paid completely (and it was quite expensive), only to discover we owed like $650 in a "resort fee". This felt like highway robbery.

My family and I had an excellent vacation at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort. The facilities were wonderful, with the only exception being the fitness center, which could have used a higher ceiling and more space. Furthermore, the food at both Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña and Roots Coastal Kitchen was exquisite. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

To whom this may concern, reaching out for the 3rd time seeking assistance with the problems that occurred during our stay. The dates 8/4-8/8/2025. My fiancé and I spoke to 2 different workers and expressed our concern with what was ongoing during our stay. We have videos of the noise that the Wyndham staff or hired contractors were making on 3 different days. Waking us up on our supposedly relaxing vacation. The noise was so loud it was literally shaking the walls & floor. It was early in the morning after a night out that was literally torture. Why would any establishment do this kind of renovation with guests present on a beach vacation? I will never know? Other problems; Cockroaches were on the transit bus that took us from our hotel to another restaurant on site. Literally wrecked our meal, and we had to throw away our shoes and clothes, worried that the bugs would infect our luggage. Our room smelled like urine, so we called had staff to come clean it up. The smell truly never leaves the room. The power went out on our first night at the hotel, and we were in the pool area. It was truly a nightmare and led to a mad dash. We wanted a truly relaxing vacation at a truly beautiful place, and we had some good times. We have not made any bad online complaints, but if we do not hear back promptly, this will change. I tipped very well for all the staff, regardless of the treatment we received; it was not their fault. We are seeking some type of reimbursement for out stay. The resort has a lot of potential. Food and drinks good, but super expensive. There is a ton of construction going on right now which was not advertised anywhere… the main large pool is closed and much of the hotel is being renovated so you can hear construction from your room. The pools are too cold to enjoy and we were told “engineering was coming” for 3 days to repair the hot tub. Beds were comfortable, views nice, staff generally friendly. I don’t think we would spend what we did to stay here again with all the construction.
