We booked a mountain-view room, and even though the room and the window were pretty tiny, the views of the Asahidake peaks were absolutely stunning. The indoor onsen was excellent, and the outdoor bath was incredibly relaxing. Sadly, we missed out on the private onsen since it’s first-come, first-served and filled up fast. The food was a real hit-or-miss experience. Breakfast was outstanding and top-notch, but dinner was a huge bummer. We were really looking forward to a Japanese-style dinner, but the restaurant was fully booked, so they served us a French meal instead. Honestly, I don't get why it gets such high ratings, the quality felt super average, kind of like what you’d get on a 3-star cruise ship. Also, just a heads-up that there’s major construction happening at the main entrance right now, so you can't really get any good photos of the outside. Still, the surrounding scenery is so magnificent that it made the whole trip worth it.
