The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

The location and views are absolutely amazing! Even though the hotel has been open for a while, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained. The elevator area makes a grand first impression, and the rooms themselves are very tasteful and high-quality.

Service: Good, very good, excellent, incredibly good, felt absolutely amazing, unbelievably good, so good it's beyond words, so good it's 'very, very, very good,' hahahahahahahahahahaha!

I originally booked a standard room, thinking I'd be able to see the Oriental Pearl Tower. Later, I paid to upgrade to an executive Oriental Pearl room. The lounge offers five meals a day, which was really impressive. We spent the entire day at the hotel. Jennie, the manager of the executive lounge, also took great care of us. When you're traveling, the most important thing is for the kids to have fun!

The hotel's location is undeniably great. I paid extra to upgrade to a river view room, and the views, especially at night, were absolutely stunning. 👍 However, I wasn't too impressed with the service. While some staff members were polite and smiled, that was about it. They often carried a subtle air of arrogance. I did receive the little lion keychain I'd requested in advance, which they said was hard to get. Honestly, I don't quite understand why (as I've seen many reviews where guests received them proactively from staff). As for the welcome fruit, I don't even want to bother complaining – it was so meager it was almost comical when I first saw it in the room. On the other hand, the executive lounge offering five meals a day was absolutely fantastic! We ended up having all our meals at the hotel, which was super convenient. I also tried the pool, and it was excellent! Overall, my first stay at the Ritz-Carlton Shanghai was just okay; it definitely didn't wow me.

They gave us an ideal room with a view of the Pearl Tower! The service was excellent; they really went out of their way to help us due to our flight cancellation because of a typhoon. At the reception, there were Russian-speaking hostesses, and the local hostesses also spoke decent English. The rooms truly felt like heavy luxury! Everything worked perfectly. On the downside, breakfast was very specifically Chinese, you really had to pick and choose what to eat to avoid food you weren't accustomed to. Also, the hotel allegedly miscalculated our stay twice, increasing the cost retroactively each time. Another unpleasant detail is that booking this hotel through Trip.com is considered a pre-booking, and you will effectively be charged twice at the hotel itself, plus a deposit for your stay. The pre-booking amount will only be refunded a few days after checkout – just be prepared for this.

The room was clean and tidy, and the location was right opposite the Oriental Pearl Tower. The service attitude was very good, and they didn't rush us to check out. The only issue was that check-in was really slow at the beginning; even though I'd called ahead to say we'd arrive around 1 PM, we didn't actually get checked in until 3 PM.

The service was excellent! My friend had stayed at another location by the same brand before, so upon our return, we got a complimentary upgrade to a panoramic large room. The complimentary afternoon tea was absolutely delicious 🥹 and the food at the bar was great too! Plus, guests can reserve a spot at the rooftop bar without a deposit.

It was okay, I guess. But it was a cloudy day so we couldn't see the Oriental Pearl Tower, and the fog was really annoying. The Aura afternoon tea: It was pretty bad, tasteless. I wish we had chosen dinner instead! The photo ops were just alright too.

The room boasts an excellent location, offering direct views of the Lujiazui 'three-piece suit' (Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center). Plus, the IFC Mall is right downstairs, making shopping incredibly convenient.
