S.Phoenix Hotel Chengde

I chose this hotel for my trip to Chengde. It's conveniently located right off the highway and offers free parking, which was great. It's about a 20-minute drive to the Mountain Resort. The hotel's decor is quite grand, and the lobby is very impressive. The service was also good. We booked a deluxe king room, which was spacious and had a partial river view. There's a swimming pool, and my kids loved it, going twice. The hotel even provided some complimentary snacks. Breakfast on the second floor was quite plentiful as well.

The hotel is less than a ten-minute drive from the highway, and with a Wanda Plaza next door, it's a great base for visiting various attractions. The rooftop pool is fantastic. The only downside is that laundry costs extra, and there's no self-service laundry room.

Spent the weekend in Hebei, with Chengde as our first stop. We checked into the hotel a little after 1 PM, and the place was bustling with guests – apparently, there were three wedding banquets going on. When we left the hotel around noon the next day, there were another two wedding receptions happening. A local friend told me that Zhaofeng is considered the best hotel in Chengde, and hosting a wedding or any banquet there is a huge status symbol. It's not particularly close to the Summer Resort, so you'll need to take a taxi to get there.

The hotel's硬件 facilities are genuinely impressive. The lobby is opulent and incredibly luxurious, and the rooms are well-equipped. However, the soft services are truly disappointing. From check-in at the front desk to breakfast, the service attitude wasn't even polite. My family of three arrived for breakfast just 5 minutes before closing, and the front desk insisted we pay immediately before entering. Couldn't they just charge it to the room card, or let us sit down and pay a little later? Also, they strictly ration Nongfu Spring water in the rooms, providing only two bottles per day. If you want more, you get a different brand of bottled water. Is this really the service for a 1.5k room? I had already chosen to extend my stay in the same room at 11 PM on the day of check-in, yet no one contacted me about renewing the room card until 6:27 PM the next day. Good service should be seamless and unobtrusive, but every little thing here made us uncomfortable. I hope the experience improves if I have a chance to visit again.

This is a new hotel with great facilities and a nice environment. It's also quite convenient for visiting various attractions. The garage, however, has poor ventilation. When it rained, the floor was covered in puddles and there was an unpleasant smell. I hope to see improvements next time.

Came to Chengde for a visit in between catching a basketball game in Beijing. Saw great reviews for Zhaofeng International on Trip.com, and it didn't disappoint! The room was spacious, bright, and comfortable, with a clean and well-maintained bathroom that had a separate shower and toilet. My only minor complaint was that the shower water temperature tended to fluctuate. The breakfast area was huge, and the food was varied and tasty. It was easy to get a taxi from the hotel to various attractions. A slight bummer was getting soaked in a downpour when I went to the Summer Resort, but overall, it was a really good experience! 💟

The room was clean and tidy, with a nice river view outside. The facilities were comprehensive, including a gym that, while small, was usually empty so I could always use it directly. My favorite part was the swimming pool. They also provided complimentary tickets for a double-entry to a bathhouse, which was a great experience overall.

The rooms are fantastic, perfect for families. The housekeeping staff were very friendly.

The location is good, but the facilities are a bit dated and not very smart. There's a Wanda Plaza right next door. Overall, the room was decent, and it looked pretty much like the pictures online, which is why I booked it based on its ranking.
