Baranof Lodge

Room was clean and check in was fine. No coffee or cups in the room. Hot cold switched in bathroom sink and the tub filled with water while showering. Seems to be going backwards as I’ve stayed here multiple times. The ******* site says all fees covered in the price, that is not the case. Was charged a fee on check in. Had to add a night on top of the 4 days I was there and was charged 70.00 over the ******* price… hope the new owners get it together.

We were looking for basic hotel while doing two days of chartered fishing. We were disappointed coffer was not on/ available to make. Staff indicated the coffer is not brewed until 7 am and we had to leave by 6 am. We were here as the holiday weekend kicked off so the coffee place across the street wasn't open before 6 either.

The facility started by acknowledging that they charge a resort fee only to raise the cost up outside of *******. Then three days I did not even see housekeeping in the halls. I was told they haven’t been showing up. Maintenance came in made a mess in the bathroom for the guest to clean up and the breakfast was microwave breakfast sandwiches sold separately coffee was never available although there was a pot

The room heater was loud, so I turned it off at 3:30 AM. By the time I woke at 7 AM the room was very cold. It took a long time for the shower to get warm.

Baranof Lodge is centrally located and convenient for walking anywhere in downtown Sitka. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and had been updated. The heat unit, however, had only one temperature, hot. No matter how you turn the knob to low heat, or even cool, the temp remained hot. This was great for warming the room up when it was cold. But it was not great during the night when the unit made it too hot to sleep, and then, if you turn it off, the room became too cold. I notified the front desk person, and they said they would have it fixed. No doubt that happened after I left. I was pleased that there were ample towels and washcloths. The internet worked well. It was a fine stay other than the heat unit.

It is well situated. We arrived after a long day travelling and the receptionist was helpful. Rooms clean and had everything we needed.

My room was on the bottom floor and smelled musty like there had been a leak in the room, the curtains had to be drawn the whole time because there are multiple food trucks right outside my window selling donuts and food to locals.
