Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel & Resort

The hotel is certainly up to the standard and conveniently located right by the cruise tour for whale watching. Price I paid is on par with the service received. Nothing to critique about the buffet and they are cooked to order. What I really like the most is their lounge with many drinks and snacks options available and I am quite surprised in a good way about that. Only thing I would suggest is, for those who want more privacy in the bath, book yourself a room with private onsen as the open air public bath is rather small and can be filled up very quickly. Having an onsen in the room can resolve this issue completely. The seafood don in the breakfast is very good and nothing to complaint. I would certainly come back next time in the winter.

For us it is the second time in this wonderful hotel and every time it is like living a dream: it feels like being in a bubble thanks to all the well-being in which you are immersed. You are pampered by every service present and by the kindness of the staff, which makes you feel at home. The food is simply divine and you would just like to have a more spacious stomach so you could taste more and more. Nature is unsurpassed, every day you find yourself meeting spectacular creatures even just going out a short distance away. You will not find a similar place in all of Japan, where man meets nature in a perfect combination of balance, harmony and deep respect. Superb stay. Fantastic room, breakfasts ..best stay in the area. Superb lounge and the variety of drinks including alcoholic drinks..coffee and matcha and snacks ..thank you for the generous hospitality. Very good value ..

I have mixed feelings regarding this round of stay, my first visit years back was great. I can't say the same for this time. We took a 7 hours overnight bus ride from Sapporo, and arrived at the hotel at 6.35am. There was no one at the reception nor lobby, which is fine. We saw there was coffee and rolls served at the open area and were thinking of getting a cup of coffee after a long overnight bus ride. Then there was this old age man, hotel staff, who jumped out from no way chasing us away saying this is only for hotel guests. This is not a Japan warm Hospitality which we used to. I think we are not your guests until we receive the room key at 3pm. We don't feel welcome. However the rest of the 4 days stay were great but our mood has been affected as we are just a transaction to the staff.

Our room had a beautiful view of the sea from the 7th floor. The hotel is all inclusive with drinks and small bites at the lounge. Guests get nice add ons for free like one scoop of ice cream from the cafe per day. The buffet had many individually plated live stations although quality hits and misses. The grilled and cooked items were better than the sashimi. Overall a good experience.
