Fufu Kyoto

The staff were friendly and the room facilities were new.

Not anonymous, excellent, exceeded my expectations! Service: It was raining when we arrived and we didn't have an umbrella. As soon as we got to the hotel entrance, a staff member from the front desk ran out in wooden clogs to give us an umbrella and help us with our luggage. Cleanliness: Impeccable, see for yourself. Environment: Even better, check out the photos. Facilities: There's a Japanese garden, but not much else. Kaiseki Dinner at 8:30 PM: It took 2 and a half hours to finish. You'll be full, but it's a slow pace.

Fufu Kyoto isn't very large, but they make the most of every inch! The landscaping is beautiful and very calming. There are so many lovely details with the lighting and decor. The room was quiet and made for a great sleep! The sound of the running water in the private onsen in the room was the perfect white noise to help me fall asleep. Aside from being a bit far out, it was still a great experience overall, and the off-season price was excellent too!

The only highlight of this hotel is the indoor onsen. The common areas are cramped, with no space for activities or relaxation. The front desk service was highly unprofessional; seeing guests arrive for check-in, they offered no proactive assistance whatsoever, not asking or saying a word, which was incredibly awkward and made us lose all interest in the hotel. Room service was also quite mediocre; they didn't arrange our shoes, didn't clean the faucet which was full of water stains, and didn't organize charging cables (perhaps I'm being a bit picky, but for a hotel at this price point, especially in Japan which is known for its service, it was quite disappointing). Restaurant service was good, but breakfast was a bit monotonous. A warning: you must check out before 11 AM, otherwise, an additional fee will be charged with no room for negotiation, so remember that! This hotel is not worth its price; choose with caution!

The room was very clean and the experience was great.

The hotel was too dark, and the breakfast was really bad with a poor atmosphere. The in-room hot tub was a nice touch, though.

Breakfast was good, but the pre-arranged dinner wasn't what we'd hoped for; I'd say it was just average. The hotel environment is lovely, the hot spring is comfortable, and the toiletries in the room are nice.
