Lovely, quiet place with bungalows surrounding an excellent pool. If you book a room on the upper levels of the bungalows, then you are high amongst the trees which is a joy. All of the rooms have balconies and areas to sit and relax. Lionel is the French owner who was super helpful … organizing a couple of days Remorque (tuk tuk) excursions around Kep which we really enjoyed. $40 / day with English speaking driver called Su Kim who was really fun and explained various things to us en route. Tara Lodge itself is about 10 - 15 mins walk to the crab market . Kimly restaurant which is a 5 min walk from the market is by far the best resto along the sea front. Get there early, grab a table on the open veranda looking out over the sea - and watch the sun set. Perfect evening. Just a couple of small things - bathrooms a little tired, and breakfast could be improved. But - definitely worth a stay and great value.

Called in for lunch today looking for something different as we have been eating rice and noodles for the last two weeks. Menu was presented looked nice and stylish. Chose a couple of beers from a pleasant French lady, possibly Tara A Caesar’s salad and a tuna baguette. The French lady apologised and said they didn’t have a proper caesars salad dressing but it was close. On arrival the c salad had no garlic croutons the lady came hastily back and said the chef hadn’t put in any bread and would bring it shortly, it duly arrived “a slice of toast cut into cubes” In addition to no croutons there was no bacon, no anchovies, very little chicken and an enormous pile of lettuce and onion and a boiled egg. The dressing didn’t resemble anything near c s dressing and very little of it . In fact we had a very sparse egg and chicken salad no frills The tuna on the baguette appeared to have been applied with a paintbrush it was so thin appearances can deceptive Tara’s lodge certainly was

The hotel clearly needs improvement- the bathroom is not a bathroom. The shower is old and impossible to manage, the door doesnt close and the TV doesnt work. When you are on vacation what you want is something that eases your experience. We left the hotel the next day and didnt ask for a refund. We booked 4 nights. Other than that the owners and the staff were very kind.

Superb stay by the sea! I loved this beautiful hotel. It is kinda tucked away and idyllic. Very comfortable and quiet rooms; lovely pool; great drinks including the mocktails and home made jam in the delicious breakfast! Couldn’t ask for more! I’d definitely recommend!
