The Fortress Resort & Spa

A fantastic hotel right on the beach, with an fabulous infinitely pool. The service was amazing, and the food in the hotel was excellent. I enjoyed the massage in the spa so much that I had another one the next day. I will definitely return.

We have just returned from another great two weeks staying at The Fortress,Sri Lanka. There have been a few changes since we were there last in 2023. The restaurant area has been refurbished and there are now a Tepanyaki cooking area and an Italian and Japanese restaurant. The main restaurant is still in Samantha’s capable hands and he still has Saman and many of the staff that were there before assisting. The food is as delicious as it was two years ago thanks to the Exec chef and all his staff. Thank you all!! Our room was upgraded upon arrival which was very much appreciated.Nalin and Namal kept the room well stocked and immaculate. The pool guys looked after all our needs around the pool area and the sun beds were very comfortable. The chief engineer was busy setting up some new outdoor lighting to show off the trees and surf. Excellent! It was great chatting with the front desk and reception team again and discussing our“haute couture “ each evening from Chez Preston.. We highly recommend this hotel and staying on an AI basis works for us as we love our food and enjoy a drink. Thanks again to everyone, sorry that I can’t remember everyone’s name but you all made our holiday truly memorable. Hope to see everyone again soon

Good location to reach Galle. Beach front and pool very impressive with plenty of loungers and towel service. We used Uber to get out on a couple of occasions but the tuk tuk drivers were not happy and were very intimidating to the drivers. When out walking they were quite annoying and would not take no thank you for an answer! Hotel very quiet at the time we visited although they were unable to accommodate a room extension. Extensive menu (priced in US$) for lunch or dinner. Orders sometimes missing or not quite as requested but that could be a language issue. Service often a little slow even with plenty of waiting staff. A mention for Sasuvu who was particularly attentive to our requests. Rooms very spacious with all usual toiletries and regular linen change. Rooms did feel damp due to the humidity. Friends had a dehumidifier in their room which they needed to empty regularly.

Wonderful location. Very clean and luxury rooms and friendliest staff. Food had a good variance and very calm ambience .
