The Mak Trat

We had an amazing 4 night stay at the Mak Trat and I can’t begin to say how wonderful, new, clean and well kept this place is. We arranged a hotel pick up from the Ao Nid port and within 5-10 of our arrival they came to pick us up, and took our luggage straight to the room. The villas are extremely charming and the beds are very very very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious as well and the food at their own restaurant, and the amenities like the swimming pool area are very clean, beautiful and inviting. The staff is very kind and helpful informing you about day trips and also, you can rent a scooter at the hotel itself. We’re in love with this place I would 100% stay there again. Highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived at Trat Mak Hotel, we knew we had found something special. We were warmly welcomed by Zindy and Jaab, two of the kindest and most attentive people we have ever met. They seemed to anticipate our every need before we even had to ask, making us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. At one point, my daughter looked around and asked, “Is this a dream?” That perfectly captures how magical our experience felt. The entire team was exceptional, especially Ku Ku, who provided outstanding service and helped make our stay truly unforgettable. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and happy. The hotel itself is paradise. The beautiful bungalows are spacious, stylish, and perfectly blend with the peaceful island surroundings. Whether you’re a couple looking for a romantic escape, a family seeking relaxation, or honeymooners wanting something truly special, this place is perfect. The à la carte breakfast deserves special mention—it was absolutely incredible, with restaurant-quality dishes and plenty of delicious options. Every meal was a pleasure. The views, scenery, and peaceful atmosphere create a truly romantic and relaxing experience. No request was too big or too small, and every wish was fulfilled with a smile. Without a doubt, this is the best hotel and staff we have experienced in Thailand. We will be returning every year and cannot recommend Trat Mak Hotel highly enough.

Beautifully designed hotel. Good space and garden area. So little staff around may be because the low season here. Nice room, quiet. Beach area bring this hotel down . No people around. No wind at all and I mean all day. Bad for business. While we need we need to go to other beaches to enjoy the sea.

Ripped off, overcharged! The manager Suriya K overcharged me 9 nights and then offered me a credit note! Totally absurd. He also got quite threatening with me. A travelling single mum with a young daughter. It is incredibly quiet, not a soul there - no excuse to steal! The place is beautiful, the food is fantastic, the service is terrible and the manager needs sacking! Change of staff and manager, then I would recommend. As it is, I definately don't!

Ripped off by the manager Suriya K - charged for 11 nights but only stayed 2! Offered a credit note instead of giving me my money back. Travelling single Mum with a child. Beware of said manager, also quite threatening in his manner. I would never go back here, Beautiful place, incredibly quiet, fantastic food, not with it staff as they get food and drink orders wrong all the time. The manager and the service staff hugely let the place down. Shame! Still fighting to get my money back!

Great photos and most reviews were the reason why we chose the The Mak Trat for our stay in Koh Mak. Sadly, none of our expectations have been met, maybe with the only exception of the room and the views. The location is the wrong beach, the water compared to the rest of the island is brown and not the crystal blue that you see most places around Koh Mak. On arrival, no information was given about breakfast or the facilities of the hotel, maybe because there isn't really any. The view from the main building over the pool to the bungalows is absolutely stunning We booked a bungalow with beach front, terrace and observation deck. We were only provided with one room key. The terrace is very nice except there is no furniture to enjoy the view, we had to ask for this at the front desk. providing us with the two saddest bean bags ever, that would not allow much of relaxations or enjoyment of the views... We had to take two sun beds from the front to the terrace our selves, staff wasn't really helpful or keen to assist in anyway. Do not expect any cleaning of the rooms, unless you hang please clean my room on the door, again no information was provided... TV in the room works very well. Cleaning of the shower is really bad. shower door is dirty and the shower head has black mold all over... Bed was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was like going to a funeral home, it was the saddest ever, there was two warm pots of coffee or tea, but no cups, I asked for a cup, but we could just order what we wanted from the team, by then surprisingly being asked to pay for our coffee and tea afterwards... We asked for an early departure or compensation, nothing has been provided except the owner offered us a gift card which we could try to sell online... Would not recommend this place to anyone going it is really a sad story that could be amazing, but no one seems to care anything. No owner or management on property, only young teenagers or early twenties staff that does what they can, but sadly not enough...
