Art Mon Zen Kyoto

Fantastic! The staff was superb. They were so helpful, warm and welcoming. The room was pristine. I can’t wait to come back. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Large room. Great Location. Helpful staff. Fabulous PJs ( also sold at reasonable price) wonderful welcome tea and chocolate piece made in House. Amazing gorgeous wooden floor where bed is positioned - small ripple like Ridges that felt so good on the feet; floor wood smelled so good Complementary tea and coffee in room with plenty of bottled water. We stayed in one of the penthouses. Never used the bath but appreciated big bathroom. Yes bed was huge. Like putting two full beds together. For us the bed was too soft They offer happy hour with complimentary wine and teas but the tea is capsule or bag - had hoped would be loose leaf pot ready for you. The Italian wine well nice idea but it had probably been opened way too long. But they served with such kindness and desire to please :) We did not have the breakfast as they could not accommodate my dietary needs but again they were so helpful in helping me find good places to eat. Downstairs with the piano that plays by myself was always empty so I would not call the place trendy. Was very quiet - no vibe but that is ok since it is so busy in Kyoto. Plus you can go behind by a street or so and discover the Common Bar - a real treat. And what a beautiful couple of streets there in Gion especially with the cherry blossoms. It was my birthday and they left me the sweetest card and some of my favorite type of tea. Thank you Big thank yous to Keiko, Hanako and Toshiki. The big windows and spaciousness of the room is a plus. We didn’t use the night sky thing. The art was nice in room but a bit odd in the lobby in terms of what was on the wall and slightly askew. Wish the windows opened. Miss fresh air but we were on top floor (3rd or 4th floor) we. Hallways are dark interior with a dark plum color carpet and dark baseboards but with a golden hint A bit of distant mountain peeking out but many view of buildings and near some phone/electric wires. - However with the sheer drapes closed it is excellent. Private but light. AMZ: Please consider having large shampoo conditioner etc instead of the small individual size ones.

We had an amazing 3 day stay at Art Mon Zen. From the moment we arrived to leaving, the staff were exceptional and extremely attentive. Probably the best hotel stay in Japan. Overall, the room was very comfortable and relaxing after a long day visiting all the sensational sights in Kyoto. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay near the main Gion district in Kyoto.

This is listed as a 3 star hotel. It is not. It is the most luxurious hotel we’ve stayed at, including 5 star properties. The room was amazing. The location was perfect. Although everyone in Japan seems extraordinarily nice, the staff here beat even that standard. There was not one second of our time at this property that wasn’t perfect. 10/10.

The property itself felt a little less hip and young than places we typically stay, but it was such a comfortable stay. The bed & soaking tub was a dream, the location and staff top notch. We really enjoyed our stay.

The Executive room was grand, complimented by high ceilings and just an overall large space compared to many other hotels/inns one would expect in Japan. The room was clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable (much larger than your typically king size) after your long days in Kyoto. The hotel is located in Gion and is a quiet and beautiful neighborhood in Kyoto, nestled in between the main touristy area and Marayuma park. There is a Family mart just outside the hotel and a coin laundry - extreme convenience. Hotel staff were incredibly nice and helped with luggage delivery service to our next hotel. Would definitely stay here again in the future!

A beautifully designed small hotel on a quiet street in the otherwise teeming Gion district. Our room was spacious and well equipped, including a wet-room bath with a bountiful shower and jacuzzi tub. You choose your breakfast from options presented the night before and eat a delicious multi-course meal in an airy room downstairs. Best of all: the front desk staff—warm, accommodating, looking for ways to make us feel comfortable and cared for.

Amazing. I will be back. Literally a 5 star experience walking distance to the most beautiful area in Kyoto. Very easy to access anything you want; food, shopping, shrines, metro and trains. The staff couldn’t be more kind always arranging taxis or giving suggestions of where to go and eat etc.. I was sad to leave this hotel. That doesn’t happen very often in traveling. I will be back here one day soon. ❤️

This is an exceptional small hotel. It's on a quiet street, but close to great restaurants, shops and transportation. Every staff member was professional, polite, helpful and friendly. We would most certainly recommend this property to friends visiting Kyoto.
