Everything was great, however I wish they would change the breakfast options instead of the same few items every day. I would also suggest that they skim the pool at least twice per day since there are so many bugs that land on the pool. They asked if we were celebrating anything, and I told them it was our anniversary and my wife's birthday, prior to arrival and during the checkin, and no arrangements were made.

From arrival to check out our family had an amazing experience at the Cala Luna boutique. The staff were on point and always happy to help. The hotel is far away enough to feel peace but close enough to all the action that you may be looking for. I have no complaints. 10/10.

The grounds are lovely, but no gym and the wellness classes were really limited - not necessarily a deal breaker but something to be aware of. A bit further from town (about a mile walk) which could be a positive or a negative based on what you are expecting.

I LOVED staying here and if I come back to Costa Rica, this would be where I would want to stay. Johnny at the front desk was absolutely magic. Any problem that we had, he had a solution for. We needed some sea sick medication but our tour got back late and everything was closed. I messaged him at the front desk using WhatsApp around 11PM and he went out and found us some! Another night, it was a night tour and by the time we got back, all the restaurants were closed. We asked him what we should do and he called in a pizza for us while we were on the tour, set the pizza on warmers for us, and then delivered it right to our room. He is excellent and definitely made the experience for us! We actually were upset to be leaving to another city in CR, and all of my friends joked about wanting to take Johnny with us. The beach access with the complimentary sunset drinks were amazing. They had chairs with umbrellas (thank goodness!) so we were able to sit while the sun was blazing. And then, the attendee there brought us cold towels. Amazing! The free breakfast was also amazing with the free option of a prepacked one if your tour leaves early. Honestly, it was some of the best food we’ve had in Tamarinda (a lot of the restaurants in town were a bust :( ) Overall, I absolutely would stay again.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Cala Lina. From the correspondance before our arrival to book add-on activities, to the arrival experience, to the daily check-ins and check-out, we experienced the best customer service. Nicole was fantastic in ensuring everything was good with our stay. The rocky beach was fun for the kids to experience the tidal pools. And a short golf cart trip away took us to town and the sandy beaches of Tamarindo. We had a lovely time here.

We stayed 2 nights. The people were amazing, always smiling and willing to help, and they recommended the best spots, beaches, and restaurants. The location was ok, not the greatest, far enough from the craziness of the town, but the beach they advertise nearby is not on the property. It is not beautiful either; it is full of sharp rocks and smells bad. The person they have dedicated to the guest was nice but lazy, in our opinion. The hotel itself was spotless, the accommodation was awesome, the dinner was one fo the best of the whole week we stayed in Costa Rica, the pool area was great, but because of their location and the beautiful arbories around you, you can only enjoy the sun for a couple of hours in the morning. Then there is no sun. The room décor was very stylish and minimalist. The shower was big, and there was enough lighting for makeup, etc. AC works like a champ. I will definitely recommend this hotel if you are coming to Tamarindo.

The staff has poor communication. There were a handful of staff that were super nice and accommodating but unfortunately, for a luxury (and pricey) hotel, you’d expect a little bit more. A few things that left me feeling unsettled: 1. The food was subpar at best. Breakfast is included and it’s nothing to write home about. We also had one lunch and one dinner and they were meh. The beef appetizer is beef tartare (raw beef) and is NOT noted on the menu. We were not aware and were shocked and upset to eat it. 2. They provide free bikes to take into downtown, HOWEVER one of ours broke down once we got to downtown (~15 min ride) and when we asked them to fix it they ended up taking both our bikes and leaving us no other transportation to get back except walk (and we weren’t dressed for that walk). They sent a taxi to pick us up and the driver was making comments about us being too lazy to walk back. It was so rude. Then he tried to bill us $8 for the ride back. We had to talk to the front desk and they waived the fee, but for an issue that THEY created, it should have been talked about. 3. They left us ghosted after we asked them to order a taxi. 4. Excursions booked through them are 3x the price. Check trip advisor instead (or call locally) 5. Not that they needed to, but they didn’t do anything after we told them it was our honeymoon. For the price, I’d expect at least champagne, card, or towel animal. Spa is very nice. Rooms were clean. I don’t think we’ll come back, though.
