Dreams Karibana Cartagena Beach & Golf Resort

at first I wasn’t too happy about the room we were given on the 3rd floor. it smelled horribly! we did get a room change and eventually the resort began to grow on me and I loved it. the beach restaurant was amazing.

Nice and relaxing holiday on hotel with nice facilities. Food was not up to our expectations.

This is a lovely hotel if you’re truly looking to get away from it all. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the staff—their hospitality was genuine, warm, and always accompanied by friendly smiles. The property itself is beautiful, with a thoughtful layout that feels spacious and seamlessly blends the outdoors with the comfort of the hotel. Our room overlooked the pool with a slight view of the ocean, which added a nice touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we appreciated all the essential amenities provided. The all-inclusive experience was enjoyable, with a good variety of restaurants and drinks. The food was solid overall, and we especially loved the coffee shop and the gelato selection. The beach is accessible but requires a bit of a walk. It’s relatively small, and seating can be limited, so it wasn’t a standout for us. Also, because the hotel is quite removed, visiting Cartagena requires additional planning and cost for taxis or shuttles. One of the highlights of our stay was the evening entertainment. The hotel lounge area was lively, and they did a wonderful job creating fun, engaging experiences each night for guests of all ages. Overall, it’s a great place to relax and disconnect—perfect if you’re seeking peace and a resort-style escape. It was a wonderful experience to enjoy at least once, though for us, it may not be a place we would return to.

I would give this resort a 1-star rating. While arrival and check-in went smoothly, the overall experience quickly declined. One major issue was the language barrier. There was a clear lack of staff who could effectively communicate, which made even simple requests frustrating and difficult. During our stay, service was consistently poor. On two separate occasions at the pool, I requested drinks for my spouse and me, and both times, the request was never fulfilled. Another day, I ordered room service and received a notification through the app saying the food had been delivered—but nothing ever arrived. When I called to follow up, communication was again an issue. We eventually went to dinner, only to be told our food had “finally arrived.” Completely unacceptable. I also experienced an issue poolside where I was told I could not have a bottle of alcohol, while others clearly were allowed to. This felt inconsistent and, frankly, discriminatory. I felt racially targeted and did not observe others being treated in the same manner, which made the experience even more upsetting. The only positive part of this trip was dining at the Portofino restaurant. The staff there—Maria and Samir—were incredibly kind, professional, and provided excellent service. They were the highlight of an otherwise disappointing stay. Overall, I would not recommend this resort based on my experience.

VERY FAR away from Cartagena town though there are shuttles. I was part of large group so it was fine for me and noticed other large groups too. The cafe and room service was incredible.

The staff all around was perfect from the spa to the entertainment team and service.

Amazing. William from The Preferred Club Pool took amazing care of me and my group. Ten out of ten! Five stars. Amazing property and all the staff were so kind. Food was delicious.

The staff was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The resort was a mixture of couples and families from literally around the world. We booked a ocean view room (it felt more like a partial view from another room balcony in the distance). The resort is about 30 minutes from the "city", but there's always taxi/uber on the property or nearby. We tried to utilize all the services and all the restaurants. The spa was great (appts aren't required but recommended). The food was good or great. There's vegetarian options every service and guest are asked numerous times to disclose food allergies. Reservations are only required at Portofino. I enjoyed this property.
