Pangkor Laut Resort - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

The environment on the island is beautiful, and the scenery is nice. The room hygiene is also good. The only slight inconvenience is that the shower and bathtub are combined, so you have to step in and out to shower, which is a bit troublesome for me.

This resort was recommended by a local friend, but when I booked it on Ctrip, I didn't realize it required a boat transfer to the island. All guests staying at the resort have to pay extra for a boat. Since we arrived late, we had to book a private boat, which cost 800 MYR, or over 1300 RMB. For a hotel costing over 2200 RMB a night, the cleanliness was very subpar, and the facilities were old. The shampoo and body wash were of poor quality; I feel many 4-star hotels offer better. The worst part was the air conditioning – even on the lowest fan setting and at 27 degrees, it was still freezing cold and blew directly at my head. Turning it off made the room too hot. The loud calls of hornbills just before dawn made it very difficult to sleep. Since there's only one hotel on the island, monopolizing the market, food prices are extremely high. It felt like we were being ripped off as soon as we got there. The only highlight was the scenery, but other than that, the experience was very mediocre. Very low value for money.

The spa was a fantastic and unique experience, and the sunset on the beach was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant was decent too. Our room was very close to the lobby. However, there's one thing to be aware of: service charges and taxes can be applied multiple times. For instance, after paying for the spa, an additional 10% was added to the final bill. Just a small heads-up for everyone! It was truly a happy trip 😁, but all that happiness definitely came with a price. In the end, our on-island expenses were even higher than the room rate! 😅
