Romerry Qingdao Hotel

A new luxury hotel has just opened in Qingdao's eastern Laoshan district. It's very luxurious with advanced facilities and is clean and hygienic. This hotel is also in the Shilaoren business district, about a one-kilometer walk to the swimming area of Shilaoren Beach, and roughly 600-700 meters to the coastline. [Victory emoji] If you're visiting Qingdao for a vacation, this is a great place to consider staying. The service attitude is good, and transportation is convenient. It's easy to get around by subway, and if you're driving, access to and from the hotel is also very convenient.

I originally chose this hotel for New Year's Eve to be close to Shilaoren Beach, and it was advertised as a five-diamond property. Mostly, I was disappointed; it definitely doesn't live up to its price. Aside from the exterior and lobby, which were decent, everything else was inferior to even a basic hotel like Ji Hotel or Atour. Hygiene: The shower area had a terrible, strong sewer smell, which was really disgusting. It was late at night, so I was too tired to call the front desk to change rooms. Service: First, several days before my stay, they called to ask for my check-in time, then told me that even if I checked in at 6 PM, a room might not be available, which was very strange. So, I decided to go out and do something else first, and I didn't check in until the evening. Because we slept late on New Year's Eve, I asked the next day if we could get a late checkout until 4 PM (especially since we checked in late). After consulting with the manager, they said the latest was 3:30 PM. Is it really necessary to make a fuss over just half an hour, just to be annoying? In the evening, I asked if they had hair ties and was told they only had yellow rubber bands. Are those even the same thing? The next day, my girlfriend wanted to print some documents, about 20 pages. The front desk said they would only print one page for free, and any additional pages would cost 1 yuan each. Is that really necessary? What high costs are involved? There's no high-end hotel service, but there's definitely a pretense of grandeur. There's no self-service laundry; you have to pay to send clothes out for washing. It doesn't justify the price, even though the rate I booked didn't have the New Year's Eve surcharge. Still not worth it...

The location is decent, quite close to Stone Old Man (Shilaoren) Beach and Jinding (Golden Tripod). What I wasn't happy with: The air conditioning was on all night but stayed at 20°C. The engineering staff came to check it but couldn't find a solution. In the end, I had to wear thick clothes in the room, afraid of catching a cold.

I booked two deluxe sea-view rooms. One room had a fruit platter and special drinks, while the other didn't. The sea view from room 2112 was very ordinary; it's quite embarrassing for a 5-star hotel to have such a mediocre view. Oh, and the curtains in room 2112 were broken. The lighting in the entire room was very haphazard, adding a lot of unnecessary complications just to appear high-end, and some of the lights were also broken. The service was okay. I didn't try the bathroom, and the smart toilet was completely unusable. They even left a controller for it, which I found hilarious, as it was totally useless.

Facilities: High-end, excellent environment. Hygiene: Very clean, breakfast was great. Ambiance: Elegant, quiet, luxurious. Service: Treated us like family.
