Coming to Hangzhou for a staycation on Chinese New Year's Eve was probably the best decision ever! The hotel is right by West Lake, and it's about a 15-minute walk to Duanqiao (Broken Bridge), perfect for an after-dinner stroll.
On New Year's Eve, even the Intime shopping mall next door closed at 5 PM. There's no internal access from the hotel to the mall next to it, so it felt a bit far when it was raining. Our New Year's Eve dinner was at the Grand Hyatt Steakhouse, which was included in our hotel package!
Our Club room was on the 17th floor, and the Club Lounge on the 18th floor has a terrace. Even if our room didn't have a direct lake view, we could still go to the terrace to enjoy the scenery.
Breakfast was at the Club Lounge. Since there were three of us, we added an extra breakfast for one person, which I believe was 128 RMB – I think it was even a bit cheaper than the ground-floor restaurant. The Club Lounge breakfast didn't have a huge variety, but everything was excellent; all the essentials were there.
The package also included afternoon tea. I initially thought it would be a standard, perfunctory three-tiered tea, but it turned out to be an exquisite Dunhuang-themed afternoon tea. During the holiday, staffing was probably short, but we still felt the staff's responsive measures and sincerity. My parents were very happy, especially watching the massive crowds downstairs – it made me even more grateful we chose the Grand Hyatt!
