Very disappointing stay – poor hygiene, substandard bathroom, and lack of privacy I stayed at this hotel in Goa for 10 nights and paid £1,000 directly to the hotel, which is extremely expensive by Indian standards and did not go though an agent at agent rates. Unfortunately, the experience did not come close to justifying the price. To be fair, the bed itself was comfortable, and while the room is clearly tired and dated, it was generally comfortable to be in. However, the bathroom was in a shocking condition. The bathtub is installed on a noticeable angle – when you sit in it, you are completely lopsided, with the bath dipping to the left so the water level is visibly higher on the right (see photos). It is uncomfortable and clearly a construction fault. The shower is effectively unusable as the glass has no proper sealant, meaning water pours out and floods the entire bathroom every time it’s used. The overall condition of the bathroom, including grout, sealant, and cleanliness, was very poor and far below what I would expect for a hotel charging these rates. Breakfast was also very disappointing and not worth getting up for. Limited choice, low quality, and certainly not what you would expect from a hotel positioning itself at this price point. The most uncomfortable experience, however, was a serious breach of hygiene and privacy. One day, when I returned from the beach, I walked into my room to find a housekeeper standing at the mirror using my personal hairbrush. This left me shocked and extremely uncomfortable. Using a guest’s personal items is unacceptable under any circumstances and raises serious hygiene and privacy concerns. It also makes you wonder what else may have been handled or used without permission. I reported this immediately to management. The manager sent the head of housekeeping, but instead of offering a clear apology or practical resolution, I was told a personal story about the staff member’s difficult upbringing. While I can sympathise with anyone’s background, this does not excuse the behaviour. At no point did the head of housekeeping initially suggest replacing the hairbrush. I had to point out that providing a new one would be the absolute minimum way of addressing the situation, and I told him I would be throwing the used hairbrush in the bin. Only after this did he go out and purchase a replacement, which I appreciated, but it should not have needed to be pointed out. There were also multiple functional issues in the room. The telephone line has a constant buzzing sound, making it very difficult to hear when calling reception, room service, housekeeping, or laundry. As a result, I had to physically go to reception each time I needed assistance. I left laundry at the reception early one morning and upon retuning back to the hotel late on the evening I checked to see if it was ready (they said same day clean) the person I spoke to could not locate my laundry for some time and questioned if I'd actually given i
