NIHI Sumba

It’s hard to put into words a place as social, warm, and magical as NIHI. We visited to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the entire team went above and beyond. Mary, the manager, surprised us with a beautiful upgrade that far exceeded our expectations—we felt so grateful and excited for what was to come. We were cared for by two incredible butlers, Ayu and Eca, who were attentive, kind, and thoughtful in every way. When my daughter suddenly had ear pain, Eca didn’t hesitate—she immediately called the in-house doctor, who arrived quickly, checked her ear, and provided medicine on the spot. Eca even helped arrange our complimentary laundry pickup without us lifting a finger. Their service was beyond exceptional. At the restaurants, we were lucky to have Dorkas as our server for lunch and dinner. She was warm, gentle, and made every meal feel personal and memorable. And the food… wow. Every dish was delicious, and the entire dining experience felt curated with intention. I especially loved the sand floors—it instantly relaxes you and adds to the unique NIHI charm. My yoga session with Martin was both refreshing and challenging in the best way, leaving me energized and grounded. And the stable team—simply phenomenal. What touched us most was how gentle, loving, and patient they were with my 5-year-old daughter. Whether she was swimming with the horses, doing a sunset ride, or just spending time at the stables, they made her feel completely safe and adored. She even got to join the kids’ chocolate-making activity, which was the sweetest experience—she absolutely loved it and still talks about it. The entire property is breathtaking—beautifully designed, thoughtful, and peaceful. Every detail feels carefully curated to create moments you’ll carry forever. One more tip: I highly, highly recommend booking your flights directly with NIHI. It adds another layer of seamless luxury to the experience. My sister and I just had the most incredible trip at Nihi. It is beautiful, spotless, and set in the most breathtaking surroundings. The staff are so warm and genuine, and the food was delicious throughout our stay. The absolute highlight for us was all the horse riding - truly unforgettable. A huge thank you to Marthen and Lian for making our stay feel so special, and to Evelien, whose passion for the horses made every ride magical. Nihi is an amazing place, and we feel so lucky to have experienced it.

NIHI Sumba is the most exceptional and authentic place where the true definition of hospitality exists. The moment you arrive, you’re embraced by the warmth of the community, the surroundings, and the culture. There’s a touch of magic here for every kind of traveler - whether you’re visiting as a family, exploring solo, seeking wellness, or celebrating a honeymoon. The only moment I was disappointed was when I had to leave and couldn't stay longer!

Nihi is truly unreal experience. Everything is perfect. The service is incredible Asna and Liam were our guest captains and made this vacation even more magic! Thank you Nihi Team for such a great place and also support for Sumbanese people. Can’t wait to get back.

From our arrival at Bali airport (NiHi reps checked us in and took us right thru to our boarding gate) until our departure in Sumba( same service there too) the NiHi team were amazing. They could not have been more helpful or accommodating to us. I can’t name everyone individually but Petrus, Doris & Lia did a wonderful job looking after the 4 of us. Paula from Catalonia, in the restaurants was super helpful and friendly and is a fabulous addition to your resort.our villa and pool was just gorgeous and housekeeping did beautiful decorations on our beds on arrival, departure and for our friends birthday. ❤️ we even had the ‘pleasure’ of one of the Monitor lizards visit our garden - it did scare the hell out of us initially but when we realized the 4 ft creature was probably more scared of us than us of him then it was a pleasure We would highly recommend anyone to visit this amazing resort. The Sumba NiHi foundation does incredible work with the Sumbanese people and it’s a credit to the hotel. We are sad leaving such a beautiful resort.
