Ascott Raffles City Chongqing

The hotel's location is quite inconvenient. No matter where you want to go by taxi, you get stuck in traffic right outside. There is no view to speak of; the window looks directly into another hotel, and you can see right into their rooms. Downstairs, starting around 8 PM every evening, loud singing begins—not sure if it's from a bar or a KTV—and it is very noisy. The heavily marketed drone show location is not good either; you only see it from the back-side angle. Overall, the room looks relatively clean. Thumbs up for the kitchen, and thumbs up for the daily housekeeping by the cleaning staff. However, the bathroom wall is leaking and damp. There are large, mysterious stains all around the bathtub, and black mold in many of the bathroom corners. We visited the heavily promoted kids' playroom twice. The first time was in the afternoon, and the floor was extremely dirty—it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The second time, we went right after it had been cleaned, so it was reasonably tidy. Regarding the marketed luggage butler service, we only found out when confirming with the front desk on our last day that it cannot be used for flights departing before 4:30 PM. The property plays games with words in their service description: they state that it needs to be booked 6 hours in advance and that the service is available 24 hours, but they bury this 4:30 PM restriction deep within the fine print, which requires very careful reading. Thumbs down! Service levels are mediocre. The overall team falls completely short of 5-star standards.

Stayed at this hotel again. This time on a road trip during the National Day holiday, yet the hotel parking lot was surprisingly quite empty. Entering through the Raffles City underground parking entrance, there is a dedicated parking area on B2. The elevators from the parking lot go directly to the LG level and the lobby. The hotel has a viewing deck with the exact same view as Chaotianmen, which is fantastic for watching drone shows and the night view. Late-night snacks are available, food deliveries can be brought right up to the room, and the breakfast is quite refined and uncrowded. During breakfast this time, I met an elderly Korean couple; they were very polite and warm. A great experience overall.

This hotel is located in the Raffles City Chongqing complex at Chaotianmen, which is a fantastic location. It's super convenient for watching drone shows, admiring the 'Mandarin Duck Hotpot' cityscape, shopping and dining, taking a Yangtze River cruise, or catching the Two Rivers ferry. (The hotel entrance can be a bit tricky to find, so don't hesitate to ask for directions.) Our family of four adults and one child booked a two-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen, and two-bathroom suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. From our room, we could see the Jialing River and the pier. Our room was on the 34th floor, which is entirely dedicated to family-friendly accommodations. The hallway was decorated with children's themes, and at the elevator entrance, there were candies and a sensory device. My son happily picked up a candy each time, then giggled as he stood in front of the device to hear the monkey sounds. (The hotel also provides children's amenities and bathrobes!) The hotel's kids' club isn't huge, but for little ones, having something to play with is enough to make them happy. There are a lot of foreigners at the hotel, so when it gets busy, the kids' club turns into a mini-United Nations. The pool water was a bit chilly, so we didn't let our child go in (it was reportedly 29℃). The hotel service was excellent. They offer a free luggage transfer service to the airport. I wasn't very familiar with the process, but with the staff's help, we managed to get it done at the last minute. Thanks to this, our whole family, young and old, could leisurely take the subway to the airport. We took a slightly longer route on Line 2 to see the famous Liziba station where the monorail passes through a building, experiencing the 'roller coaster' of the light rail. The hotel breakfast received mixed reviews. Personally, I found it sufficient. All the ingredients were fresh, and the freshly made *xiaomian* (noodles) and *chaoshou* (wontons) were very popular. My picky eater son devoured a bowl of four *chaoshou* in one sitting. However, other family members felt that for a five-star hotel, the selection was a bit limited. Also, the bread was from Sam's Club, not freshly baked by the hotel, and the juice wasn't freshly squeezed. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

The environment is good, and the service is excellent, but the living room sofa isn't very comfortable.

There was almost no service. No bottled water in the room. I had to call housekeeping to get some. My friend recommended this place, and they received complimentary breakfast for their child, who was in middle school at the time. But for us, with an elementary schooler, breakfast wasn't complimentary; we had to pay full price! I asked to print some documents, and they said it would be 2 yuan per page, but then offered to print them for free if I left a good review! Honestly, it's ridiculous! I will never stay here again! For the next two nights, we stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton in Jiefangbei, and the service and breakfast variety were so much better there, plus they offered complimentary breakfast for children! The contrast was stark! I do not recommend staying here!

I'd stayed here twice before and had a great experience, so I recommended it to my relatives who were visiting China. Since they don't travel much domestically, they were a bit unfamiliar with some things, but the front desk was incredibly helpful and attentive, providing a lot of conveniences and care. What touched me the most was the complimentary room upgrade, which made their stay very happy and comfortable. This will definitely be my go-to hotel whenever I visit Chongqing in the future. Highly recommended!
