We were very excited to stay at this hotel after seeing the photos, but unfortunately it turned out to be a major disappointment.
First of all, there was no proper hot water in our room. Even though we reported the issue to the reception several times, it was not addressed promptly. We were eventually told that, in order to get hot water in the shower, we first had to run the hot water in the bathtub and wait. In addition, dirty water came out when we turned on the taps.
There seemed to be several maintenance issues throughout the room. At one point, our air conditioning stopped working as well.
The food was also far below expectations. Overall, we were so dissatisfied with the hotel that we tried to spend most of our two-day stay outside the property.
The advertised sandbank experience was another disappointment. The location we were taken to did not even have a visible sandbank.
Sadly, almost every experience at this hotel was frustrating and underwhelming. The only positive aspect of our stay was our driver, who took us to Upendo twice. He was exceptionally friendly, professional, and always willing to help.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.
