Château de Massillan

On our way back to the Netherlands, we were looking for a nice hotel near Orange. During our search, we came across this beautiful château and discovered its brand-new Lumipods, which had only opened a few months earlier in the château's gardens. There are just three Lumipods, making the experience feel exclusive. Each Lumipod is beautifully designed, featuring a circular layout with floor-to-ceiling glass, a modern bathroom with a shower and toilet, and excellent air conditioning. We thought the concept looked so unique that we booked it immediately. The château is set in a beautiful natural setting with plenty of shaded parking beneath the trees, as well as charging stations for electric vehicles. Our welcome was warm, and check-in was quick and efficient. A member of the staff walked us to our Lumipod and took the time to explain everything. One feature we especially liked was the ability to connect our phones via Bluetooth and play our own playlist through the excellent built-in sound system. Although we didn't have time to use the spa, it looked fantastic. The swimming pool was perfect for a refreshing dip, and the adjoining terrace and bar were wonderful places to relax with a drink. The mature trees surrounding the area provided plenty of shade, making it a very comfortable place to spend the afternoon. We slept perfectly thanks to the exceptionally comfortable bed and the peaceful surroundings. If I had to mention one small drawback, it would be the absence of a Nespresso machine; I always enjoy a good cup of coffee as soon as I wake up. Breakfast is served in the château and offers an excellent buffet, along with freshly prepared eggs cooked to your liking. We only stayed for one night, but this is definitely a place we'd love to return to for a much longer stay.

A deeply disappointing return to a place that once meant so much to us. Sadly, I cannot recommend Château de Massillan. My husband and I returned to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary at the château where we were married in 2016. We hired the entire property for our wedding weekend with 70 family and friends, so returning ten years later should have been incredibly special. Instead, it became one of the most disappointing hospitality experiences we have ever had. Despite months of correspondence explaining the significance of our visit and assurances that our anniversary would be recognised, there was no acknowledgement whatsoever. No welcome as returning wedding clients, no recognition of our anniversary and no effort to make the occasion feel special. We also booked and paid for a package that included a "Bio Gastronomic Dinner". Only after being seated were we informed that the gastronomic restaurant had been replaced by a bistro concept months earlier. At no stage before our arrival were we told about this significant change, despite it being a key reason we chose to return. Beyond this, the overall standard of hospitality had noticeably declined. The property lacked attention to detail, service felt reactive rather than proactive, and the atmosphere that once made Château de Massillan feel like a luxury destination had disappeared. After our stay, I wrote privately to the owner in the hope the matter could be resolved. While our disappointment was acknowledged, no meaningful financial resolution was offered. This review genuinely saddens me to write because our wedding at Château de Massillan remains one of the happiest weekends of our lives. We returned hoping to relive those memories; instead, we left feeling let down and with our view of a place we once loved fundamentally changed.

We recently spent one night at the Chateaux while on an independent bicycle trip in Provence. The Chateaux is simply beautiful - the grounds/gardens are lovely - everything is quiet and peaceful. The hotel property has been restored/renovated in a way that evokes the old history but is totally new/modernized. Rooms are spacious, tasteful, perfectly maintained and well-equipped with excellent air conditioning (it was very hot that week!) and wifi. Staff in the hotel and the restaurant are very friendly and customer-focused as well as being very professional. We had dinner in the restaurant, which because of the weather was serving dinner outdoors around the fountain. It was magical - excellent food and wines, perfect service. And the breakfast buffet the next morning was equally nice. The Chateaux may be a little out of the way for some visitors to Provence, but it's worth the effort!

The staff were rude at times at the reception. The room had a few difficulties: the light bulb not working properly in the shower, a blocked shower, a dirty bath, a broken radiator handle, and no beauty products in the room. No body lotion or hair conditioner. The lack of choices for hot drinks at breakfast. A poor coffee machine. No extras in the bedroom

Best: the view of the castle and location. The Worse: rooms had broken/defect things (hole in the chair, room was not that clean, no possibility of closing doors to separate spaces, no smart TV) and breakfast offer does not comply to price and hotel: very poor offer of ready and not fresh food, no service at the table, awful baguette). Pool was unfortunately so cold we could not use (it was definitely not 24 degrees heated). High price for wellness area.

Unprofessional and unfriendly staff. No comercial skills. Couldn’t it in the restaurant although staying at the hotel. No one advised us that we should book in advance. Dirty rooms

We stayed two nights at this beautiful chateau. The room was fine, though it was a pity it was too hot to sit on the terrace during that period. But we think it would be fantastic in the spring and autumn. Fortunately, there was plenty of space to relax in the garden and by the pool. We can't name any real drawbacks, except that it was a pity the restaurant "Le M" didn't have an à la carte menu on Saturdays and was closed on Sundays. However, this was more than compensated for by the excellent meals served by the bistro.
