Overall a Great Stay, Though Service Left Room for Improvement.
We recently completed a 3-day, 2-night stay at this hotel, booking a package that included both breakfast and dinner—which I highly recommend. While many local guests opt for day trips or single-night stays, staying two nights allowed us to fully enjoy the experience.
Property & Amenities:
The property is a traditional, slightly dated onsen hotel in terms of room amenities, but the public areas are well-maintained and clean. The location is also extremely convenient.
Service Experience:
Most of the staff—including the male receptionists, buffet team, and bar staff—were wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, our interaction with one front desk staff member, Ms. Morikawa, was disappointing. Although she understands English, her attitude towards us was noticeably cold and distant. Having traveled extensively throughout Japan and internationally, the contrast in hospitality was clear, particularly when we observed her interacting warmly with Japanese guests right after being dismissive with us.
We felt compelled to bring this matter to the attention of the Front Desk Manager. While we rarely feel the need to raise service concerns in Japan, we felt it was important to share our experience regarding being treated differently as foreign guests.
Aside from this incident, we enjoyed our time and appreciated the efforts of the rest of the team.
