TUI BLUE Yangtze Shanghai

The location is fantastic, just under 100 meters from Exit 14 of Metro Line 2. It's about a ten-minute walk to the Shanghai Museum, and you can easily walk to the Bund as well. We arrived a bit after 11 AM, and the front desk kindly coordinated to have a room cleaned for us on a priority basis. By the time we finished lunch nearby, it was ready for check-in. They even upgraded us to a larger, more comfortable room with a better view of the Oriental Pearl Tower from the balcony. Service was exceptional. From the concierge and front desk to housekeeping and restaurant staff, everyone was professional, attentive, and proactive—a major plus. The hardware facilities are a bit dated, but still acceptable. There was no musty smell in the room, and the soundproofing was quite good.

This is my third stay here, and the price has gone up quite a bit. There are many foreign guests who love the Republic of China (ROC) style, and the staff seemed relatively less enthusiastic towards domestic guests. However, the housekeeping lady was very nice and deserves a special shoutout. The location is exceptionally good—just 20 meters from Exit 15 of Metro Line 15, and 4 stops away from Hongkou Football Stadium, where three subway lines intersect. The Republic of China aesthetic is very eye-catching, making it a great spot for taking photos and check-ins. The facilities in the special-rate room had a few minor flaws, and you have to be careful when showering in the large bathtub, though it's nothing major. If you don't want to compromise on comfort, you can pay extra to upgrade.

The room is okay and they provided complimentary fruit, but it is definitely not worth the price. It's suitable for first-timers in Shanghai who want to experience the old Shanghai vibe, but not ideal for business trips or traveling with children.

I booked a special offer room for 799, which didn't include breakfast. I can live with the small room, but the main issue is that there's only a bathtub and no showerhead. When I asked the front desk if they had disposable bathtub liners, they said, 'Sorry, we don't provide disposable bathtub liners.' So, basically, I paid 800 for a hotel where I couldn't even take a proper shower. They also didn't mention that the window view was blocked by a building in front. Absolutely terrible experience.
