Che Playa Hostel & Bar Adults Only

We slept in a suite, the room was full of mold and a strong smell of mold, not clean (I had a fingernail on the dresser next to the bed) there was a water break (not the hostel's fault) but they didn't announce it even though they realized there was a problem. The employees are nice, and the location is good, but we were really disappointed by the room, which was unpleasant to stay in. In addition, we were here on the weekend and the music from a party on the roof was really, really loud and continued until very late and disturbed our sleep, not suitable for those who suffer from noise. We will not return here.

My first hostel in Mexico and it was a great one! Perfect place to meet people and have a good time. Camila made the experience it wouldn’t have been the same without her! We had a great night making cocktails and playing drinking games! Thank you

This hostel exhibits horrendous business practices. I e-mailed two weeks prior to alter my booking and they did not fulfill my request. Upon my arrival they would not acknowledge my request. They price gouged me $80 USD for a 8 bed dorm for one night. I am disgusted that I chose this hostel out of every other option in Puerto Escondido. How a company could take advantage of a solo traveler is reprehensible. Also, the water dispenser does not work so there is no fresh water available. I was very excited about my trip to P. Escondido and this hostel has really brought everything down. I am just a high school teacher trying to relax on a budget for a few days.

I recently stayed at CHE, and the experience was nothing short of exasperating. Here's a concise summary of my experience: 1. **Mismatched Room Description**: The room we were allocated was not the one showcased in the pictures. The actual room missed many promised features. To highlight a few: - The bathroom was not en-suite, contrary to what was stated. It was out in the public domain. - We were greeted with a damp and moist odor, a clear sign of inadequate maintenance. - The toilet was non-functional and remained so even after receiving assurances that it was repaired. - There were no proper blinds, exposing us to the early morning sunlight which meant sleeping after sunrise was not possible for us. 2. **Broken Commitments on Refunds**: After bringing our grievances to the notice of the hotel staff, we were assured both verbally and in written form that a refund would be processed. However, when I followed up on this matter, I encountered a series of inconsistencies: - Delayed and often contradictory responses from the hotel staff. - Referral to the manager, who despite seeing my numerous messages, chose not to respond. - A change in their refund stance, indicating that they'd no longer honor their commitment due to an 'order from the owner/administration'. 3. **Ineffective Communication**: The lines of communication seemed convoluted. I was often met with delayed responses, diversions to other staff, or being completely ignored. I had to initiate contact multiple times, and even then, the resolution offered was unsatisfactory. In summary, while booking mishaps can occur, the hallmark of quality service is how establishments deal with such setbacks. Unfortunately, CHE fell considerably short in this regard. The unmet commitments, combined with the lack of clear communication, make it difficult for me to recommend this place to future travelers. Potential guests should be aware and approach with caution.
