This spot is a little piece of heaven. My husband and I had a wonderful long weekend here to celebrate his birthday. The weather cooperated and the pool was lovely. Day trip to Good Harbor beach was also perfect. We walked the Atlantic path also which starts right there at the Inn. Highly recommend

We had two rooms for a long weekend getaway with our 3 teen boys. The Inn was perfect and very clean! Breakfast with soft music looking out over the sea daily was a highlight! We enjoyed long walks on the rocks and the beach path from the hotel. Water and coffee available all day was much appreciated. After long days at the beach it was fun to play games and watch movies in the lower level lounge. We will definitely be back!

Great getaway for a few days of relaxing in a historic Inn. It is located overlooking the ocean without direct access to a beach but with a wonderful salt water pool. Has all the amenities you would expect in a first-class Inn. The staff is wonderful and very attentive to making your stay enjoyable. My wife and i have stayed there now for three years in July for about 4 days stay each time. There are less expensive places to stay but none with the character and charm of this Inn. I highly recommend it.

We stayed two night and wished we had more time to stay longer. The Parlor Bar and porch were relaxing and provided a place to enjoy light snacks and drinks while taking in the beautiful ocean breeze. The staff were able to assist us with all our needs and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The rooms are well appointed and tastefully decorated. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast croissants were amazingly fresh and paired with the most delicious coffee ever. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing restful reset.

The property is a beautiful classic old New England Inn. The common rooms were beautiful and the breakfast was plentiful especially accommodating a gluten free diet. The breakfast hostess who I believe was from Finland(?) was very accommodating, and dining on the veranda overlooking the Atlantic was wonderful. While beautiful, the atmosphere was impersonal. Regarding our room... my wife and I felt cramped, as the room was uncomfortably small. The room was missing a hair dryer which for my wife was an important amenity. I had to borrow one from another guest because the front office wasn't opened and when I called the number as instructed, I got an answering service.

I absolutely loved staying at this hotel! Everything was so clean, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. They made me feel so comfortable, almost like I was staying with family. The hotel has such a cool and different atmosphere. It reminded me of the roaring 20’s with a Great Gatsby style, but it was still peaceful and relaxing. The ocean views were absolutely beautiful and the whole place just had this calm, peaceful feeling.Would definitely stay here again!

Always a relaxing and beautiful moment when we head to the Emerson Inn. Views and drinks on a lovey deck in comfy rocking chairs…what more could you want:)

We have stayed at probably twenty boutique hotels up and down the New England coast, and this one has quietly moved to the top of the list. We almost didn't book it — we'd never heard of it. That would have been a significant mistake. The building itself stopped us cold the moment we pulled up. It's one of those rare properties that feels like it grew out of the land rather than being dropped onto it — right on the ocean, beautiful lawn, and wraparound porches that clearly have a few centuries of stories soaked into the boards. You can tell the owners have resisted the temptation to renovate the soul right out of it. The original wide-plank floors creak in exactly the right places. The wainscoting in the dining room would make a preservation architect weep with joy. This is what boutique is supposed to mean. The staff, though — honestly, they might be the real story here. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like old friends who happened to be running a little late. Our room wasn't quite ready and before we could blink, the woman at the front desk had us settled on the porch with iced tea and a handwritten list of her personal favorite spots in Rockport. Not the laminated tourist sheet. Her actual favorites, with little notes in the margins. That kind of warmth doesn't come from a training manual. Every single person we encountered — at breakfast, by the pool, passing in the hallway — smiled first. It sounds small. At most hotels, it's apparently very hard. Our room faced the water, and I have to be honest: I wasn't prepared for what that view actually looked like. I've seen ocean views. This was something else. The Atlantic from this angle, on a clear morning with the light coming in sideways. I sat on the wraparound porch for an hour with cold coffee, just watching the water move. The rocks, the boats, the way the color shifts from deep blue to green as the clouds pass — it's the kind of view that makes you feel slightly foolish for spending so much of your life indoors. Worth every penny of the room rate on its own. We're already looking at dates to come back in October, when I imagine the whole property takes on a completely different and probably equally wonderful character. If you're considering a romantic escape on the North Shore and you're on the fence — get off the fence. Book it.

Our experience with the Emerson Inn left us shocked and deeply disappointed. We were looking forward to a peaceful getaway, but life had other plans — the person we had arranged to stay with my disabled 91‑year‑old father had to cancel unexpectedly, making it impossible for us to travel. When we reached out to the Emerson Inn to explain, hoping for understanding, the manager’s response was cold and uncaring. There was no empathy, no flexibility, and no willingness to consider the reality of our situation. They refused to issue a refund and offered only a credit valid until October 30, 2026. While a credit might seem helpful on the surface, the requirement to use it by the end of October is incredibly difficult for anyone caring for a loved one with significant needs. Our ability to travel is limited and unpredictable, and the manager showed no interest in acknowledging that reality. In moments of genuine hardship, you learn which businesses value people over policy. Sadly, the Emerson Inn made it clear where they stand.
