This is my first review on Trip.com, and also my first negative review, which I'm giving to one of my favorite hotels in Guangzhou, where I've lived for decades – The Langham! I live in Baiyun District, and there are plenty of five-star hotels there. I specifically drove dozens of kilometers to stay at The Langham, only to be utterly disappointed! During the off-season, to reduce workload, they squeezed all guests onto the same floor, or even the same half-floor! I checked in on February 26th at 4 PM, and it was very quiet until I went to bed at 10:30 PM. Then, around 11:00 PM, I heard very loud door-slamming from next door, followed by what sounded like a woman or child screaming, which continued until 2:00 AM! At 11:30 PM, I called the front desk to ask them to speak to the neighbors. They just brushed me off, saying they'd look into it, and then sent earplugs. But clearly, no actual communication happened afterwards! I can understand why they wouldn't want to upset one guest for the sake of another! I just tried to cover my head and sleep, but the screaming from next door didn't stop until past 2:00 AM. This isn't just a regular 200-300 yuan hotel, after all. I originally didn't want the hassle, but it was really affecting my sleep, so I tried calling the front desk to switch rooms, and here's the even more absurd part! NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE AT THE FRONT DESK! I called twice, no answer. I called from my own mobile, still no answer! They just went to sleep! Even more ridiculous was the explanation from the duty manager the next morning: they *must* have been awake, but were busy with something else?! So, whether you can get through to the front desk and get a response is purely down to luck! If you drop dead in the middle of the night, too bad for you! There was no apology at all, just an offer of two complimentary breakfasts. Langham, compare your current breakfast to what you offered before the pandemic – it's deteriorated countless times over. It wasn't even 10 AM yet, and the two chefs at the fried egg stations, who looked rather plump, were already eager to pack up! A person who seemed to be a lobby manager kept clearing plates you hadn't even finished! The service quality is terrible, terrible, terrible. Don't think that just because you're close to the Pazhou exhibition center, you can just focus on making money during those few days!
