I went back after an absence of a couple of years. The view outside from the terrace is possibly the nicest of any restaurant in the Perigord - except maybe the chateau the Treyne -. We liked the coypu peacefully swimming around in the large pond in front. There are only few vegetarian on the menu, but the chef was able to concoct a fine selection of dishes including a creative one based on mere carrots. The service by young, very nice, waiters and waitresses is still a bit haphazard at times. Dogs are welcome ;-). I will go back more regularly

A really very charming and relaxing place. Beautiful rural setting and an understated elegance throughout. The owner and staff were superbly professional and accommodating. They kindly upgraded us to a large room overlooking the river. We had a meal at night and the breakfast - both excellent.

This wonderful Manoir House/Hotel is superb ! We stayed 3 nights in a Privilege room overlooking the garden and running river. The room was very comfortable. Well maintained and a good size bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent. Lots of fresh meats, eggs cooked to order but the bread! Baked freshly each day and still warm when we spread the wonderful jams. Marie, our host is a wonderful host. Each day she would provide suggested routes and sights to see that we could follow if so inclined.Superb suggestions. We visited small villages and had wonderful lunches as we drove through the beautiful countryside of the Dordogne.Which villages had daily markets! It made our stay more pleasurable. The Food arrangements are excellent. Our 1st night we had a 4 course degustation meal...let's just say it was superb. Beautifully presented and a wonderful combination of flavours. It deserves a Michelin star...it's that good! The other nights we ate at the Table de Jean 900 metre away in the village of Coly. Owned by the same owners it was great bistro food. So good we chose to go there a 2nd night.Very reasonable 39euro 3 course menu Overall this Manoir house is a perfect choice for those looking for a special place to spend a few days in this beautiful part of France. We visited over 30 years ago and this stay was even better this time!

We stayed at this beautiful family run hotel for one night when passing through the area. The lady owner was very friendly and it was fascinating hearing about the history of the property which has been in her husband's family for many centuries. We had a lovely room which looked as if had been recently refurbished, as had the shower room. The room was spacious, with a couple of easy chairs to relax in. There is a smart outdoor swimming pool with loungers around - a great way to unwind after a long car journey. We had a delicious evening meal in the restaurant where breakfast is also served. All the staff were very good, helpful and friendly which added to the whole experience. We had no idea how beautiful this area is and we look forward to spending a few nights here on our next trip to explore the area rather than just passing through it.

Truly lovely experience at a 5 star property with an amazing hard working staff. Spending more than 8 months this year on the road, Manoir Hautegente was such a retreat treat! Tucked away just a little over 2 hours outside of Bordeaux, this high end, family owned paradise was a friendly French getaway I was not expecting. From the beautiful wheat fields when you enter the long drive way to Oakley the Manoir mascot, to the horses, fuzzy chickens, trail behind the property, and the swings in the picturesque yard where you can relax or work outside if you so choose; I just cannot say enough about Marie and her staff and what they have done to create such an amazing atmosphere for their guests. From the hardworking food servers, to the housekeepers who were on top of our room and organizing things before we could even think of it. If you are looking to get away and just forget about life, this is the place to be! Thank you all so much and we will be back.

The opinion on the restaurant that we booked in advance and on recommendation: First they could not find our reservation. After discussion we were offered a table at the entrance of the kitchen. The manager was aggressive and gave us an ultimatum: either we agree to stay or we leave. Finally, we stayed and enjoyed the chef's wonderful cuisine. But I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a warm welcome.
