The Grand Hotel - Salem

The lady that checked us in was excellent. This hotel is in such a need of repairs of things. First room had the room door not fully closing. Asked for a different room and was provided multiple to choose from. New room had a leak from the bathtub lower faucet, the bathtub drain couldn't be opened because the handle was broken, and the worst thing was the vibrating air conditioner on the wall. Had to put the chair in the room pressed against it to stop the rattle so we can sleep. Another customer asked for a different room as well as I was checking in due to the west facing room are facing the roof air conditioners on tne roof which a visible from the window. The toilet paper holders were basically across the room so good luck getting TP without getting up. Oh and have fun in the squeaky elevators as the squeaky and jitter you up and down to your floor. Elevators should probably be greased and inspected also. Rooms are pretty sound proof which is a BIG plus. Breakfast was pretty good as well, tasty, and well stocked. This hotel reminds me of those fancy hotels but much further BACK in the day fancy hotels. I wanted to walk around nearby but didn't have time unfortunately to check out the sites around the hotel. I think if they renovated the rooms, it would be a much better quality hotel that would attract a younger crowd. Would i stay again, probably not.

The staff was so kind and helpful. Everyone we talked to smiled, were very friendly and helpful. Went beyond courtesy in conversations.

The included breakfast was a nice touch. The space itself was very grand and inviting. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. All around we had a great stay.

Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Underground parking is tight. Low clearance and parking spots are small. The bed was clean but the room needs to be revamped. Shower and sink faucets were ready to fall off. Carpet was old. Lots of repair needed.

Nice convenient spot. The towels and bedding seemed a bit outdated and had rips in them, everything was clean though. Nice pool and the parking is easy.

The room was very clean and spacious. I had a Deluxe King room. Came with a living area with a small leather sofa and nice desk. No view, so it was very quiet. No neighbor noise along side or on top. Parking garage under the hotel. Breakfast was good. Scrambled real eggs and also an egg casserole, along with nice bacon and a potato dish. Good coffee....not Folgers! I did not eat at the restaurant, but I did have happy hour small plates on Thursday night. Pork belly tacos were delicious. I chose this hotel in part because it was a few blocks away from the Elsinore theater where I was going to see a concert. It was a very easy walk and I felt safe walking by myself.

Clean room and maintained. The property is starting to show its age. Interior finishes and furnishing feel dated and needs updating.

Good central location. Restaurant on site as well as many others nearby. About a block from the Elsinor theater.
