Donghu Hotel Shanghai

This hotel is steeped in history, a high-end, elegant old villa with beautiful surroundings. The service is excellent, and the rooms are clean and tidy. The surrounding area offers restaurants, entertainment, and shopping all within easy reach. Highly recommended!

Looking at the pictures, I was a bit hesitant, feeling the hotel looked old, but it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable to stay in, aside from the lobby chairs which I found uncomfortable. The room was spacious, and the bed and shower were very comfortable. The location is absolutely fantastic, on Donghu Road, surrounded by many great restaurants. It's also very close to Huaihai Road, offering a peaceful retreat in a bustling area.

I stayed in Shanghai for 40 days, recuperating and exploring. I booked three classic, old-school hotels in the city, and Donghu Hotel was by far my favorite. My initial booking was for just five days, but I loved it so much that I extended my stay twice, ending up with a total of 16 days here. Out of the three hotels, Donghu excelled in location, room size, and staff attitude. I was particularly impressed with the prompt housekeeping; the cleaning staff on the third, fourth, and fifth floors were all wonderful. The transportation is also very convenient, with various bus routes and subway lines nearby, making it easy to reach most attractions.

The room was bright and spotless, and the location is absolutely fantastic. It's surrounded by beautiful restaurants, and really close to both shopping malls and the subway. The front desk staff and cleaning team were incredibly warm, attentive, and very efficient. Plus, the pool is clean and lovely.

I booked this hotel for my parents. My mother absolutely loves Donghu Hotel and always chooses to stay here whenever she's in the area for errands. This time, I informed the hotel last minute that my mother had just been discharged after surgery. The hotel staff immediately contacted me and proactively offered various forms of assistance, even upgrading our room considering my mother's health condition. I'm very grateful for the hotel's thoughtful care for my parents.

The location felt pretty good, right in the city center. It's quite lively. It's an old house. If you don't get an upgraded room, it feels a bit small. Parking is convenient. The service attitude is great. The surrounding facilities are quite complete.

The vibe is very vintage but not outdated, and the decor is exquisite. The service was great, with a doorman to open the door – overall, it exceeded my expectations. It can get a bit dry if you sleep with the AC on, but the room has a humidifier, which helps. I didn't try the breakfast so can't comment, but it was very convenient to just head downstairs to Alimentari, which I was very happy with.

The buildings and dining at this established hotel truly live up to their reputation. I hope it can continue to innovate with the trendy vibe of Donghu Road while preserving its unique character, especially by highlighting its historical architecture to attract more guests who want to learn about the past or relive old memories. 🧑🏫

The room was quite spacious, and the building itself has nearly a hundred years of history. The staff were very warm and welcoming, and the local dishes at the restaurant were delicious. The location is superb, right outside you'll find charming little cafes and bars. Overall, I had a very comfortable stay.
