Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa

Better late than never for this glowing review! I'd booked a standard room and was so grateful the hotel upgraded us to a family triple room. Before arriving, I'd left notes, sent an email, and even chatted with a Chinese-speaking front desk staff member on social media. They actually met all of my requests! They reserved an excellent room for us on a great floor with an amazing view. Thank you so much! All the staff members, from the butler to the front desk and housekeeping, were incredibly nice and had excellent service attitudes. The hotel environment is simply stunning – just look at the pictures! From the balcony, you can even see the sea in the distance. The room was spacious and had no musty smell! There was just a tiny bit of humidity in the bathroom, but it didn't bother us at all. The breakfast was fairly diverse, and the taste was decent. We ate it for two days, and it was the same each time, but there were no unpleasant surprises. The hotel is literally a two-minute walk to the beach – the location is absolutely fantastic. This hotel is definitely a top choice for families. It has multiple pools, a large waterslide, and a small kids' play area. Most guests here are families, which is great! Overall, a very satisfying and delightful stay!

Facilities: This was our first time bringing our child to Phuket. We initially booked The Emerald in Karon, but then I read reviews saying that while it was new, the pool felt a bit cramped between the two buildings. So, I checked out more reviews and decisively switched to the established Old Phuket Karon Beach Resort, which has a more resort-like vibe! It boasts a super large pool water park, and there's even a dedicated children's area with a small water slide 🛝 for toddlers, which is fantastic! Cleanliness: As an older five-star hotel, the decor is a bit dated, so the rooms feel a little old, but overall cleanliness is quite good. There were no issues with small animals or anything like that, unlike some online reviews suggested. Environment: As always, I've attached pictures; beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Service: The front desk service was excellent. We booked island hopping tours daily, and they picked us up at the front desk each day. On the first day, I was unfamiliar with the area and worried about finding the driver, so a staff member proactively helped us check our itinerary and contacted the driver via phone to clarify things in Thai! Thumbs up! One more thing I absolutely must mention: The Old Phuket Karon Beach Resort's location is arguably the most convenient in the Karon area. Right outside, there's a small commercial street with massage parlors, fruit stalls, Thai food, and seafood – everything you could want! Plus, turn right out of the hotel and walk just 30 meters, and you're at the stunning Karon Beach in minutes. There's also a 🚌 bus stop right outside that goes to Phuket Town, which is much more convenient than Centara Karon Resort Phuket!

Five-star review! We stayed in a family room on the first floor. It's inevitable for it to be a bit humid, but that's really due to the local climate and weather, so I don't think the room's orientation or floor made much of a difference. We were right next to the kids' pool, so we could just open the door and walk out – super convenient! With one king bed and a bunk bed, it was absolutely perfect and comfortable for a family of four! As for the hotel environment, it's very spacious. Although the breakfast leaned towards Western style, they had local noodles and soups that tasted great. Enjoying some bread and jam with black tea and coffee was also a nice touch. All the staff we encountered were very friendly, and the room cleaning was prompt – very good. Overall, the hotel offers great value for money. Both adults and kids could spend a whole day in the pool, and the two big waterslides were even better! Karon Beach is just a right turn out of the hotel, and there are many hidden gem restaurants nearby. Plus, there are two 7-Elevens right outside, and you absolutely have to visit Thailand's 7-Elevens multiple times a day! And for durian, you'll definitely be full! There are a few stalls at the 7-Eleven intersection, where we found the long-stemmed, sticky kind. The Monthong durian near the Karon roundabout, just a short taxi ride away, was also delicious!

Although the hotel facilities are a bit old, it doesn't affect the experience. There are flowers and greenery everywhere, and the pool is beautiful and spacious. There's a 7-Eleven just 200 meters to the left of the entrance.

I was extremely satisfied with this trip. I chose the Orchid Hotel because of its location and the big waterslide, though my expectations weren't very high initially. I'd seen some reviews mentioning the hotel being damp and moldy, but I figured that for the 300-400 baht price point, it would be acceptable. I requested a high-floor, sunny room on Trip.com. I booked two rooms, and since our flight arrived late, we didn't get to the hotel until midnight. The two rooms were in different buildings, quite far apart. At first, I wasn't happy and considered asking to switch to closer rooms the next day. However, the hotel upgraded one of my standard rooms to a pool-view room, directly facing the big waterslide. My child loved it and didn't want to move, so we just made do. I stayed on the third floor of building 1. While the room wasn't brand new, it wasn't as old or damp as some reviews suggested. When I entered, the air conditioning was on. I'm not sure if it was because I'd noted my concern about dampness causing my child to get a rash, but the hotel clearly made an effort regarding customer satisfaction. As for people saying the breakfast wasn't good or that there weren't many Chinese people, I think that's subjective. My whole family found the food quite acceptable; it was typical buffet fare. The small restaurant next door was convenient for lunch and dinner. The location was great, only a few hundred meters' walk from Karon Beach. The kids had an absolute blast on the pool slide, and my two-year-old even learned to swim in the shallow pool! A truly commendable point is that it was my eldest son's birthday on the 22nd. Without any prior notification from me, the hotel decorated our room for his birthday. We were out at sea all day, and when we returned to the room that evening, we found it meticulously cleaned. The hotel had fashioned adorable little elephants from towels, adorned with fresh flowers, and left a birthday card. Both the kids and adults were amazed! My son was overjoyed. It was his first tenth birthday, and his first time receiving birthday wishes from a hotel. I have to say, for a seaside hotel in Phuket, an old establishment like the Orchid, at such a great value, making this kind of effort – I am extremely satisfied. If I ever go to Phuket again, I will definitely stay here. This is not a paid review; it's a completely genuine and objective assessment, for your reference.
