Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort

Two Rooms, Aquarium Snorkeling – Anantara Dhigu, Absolutely Worth It! After much deliberation, we chose Anantara Dhigu – and it was the right call. A 30‑minute speedboat from Malé got us there, and the three‑tier lagoon (white, turquoise, deep blue) was breathtaking. We stayed on Dhigu but could freely shuttle to sister‑island Veli – two islands, one trip. Huge thanks to our butler Akobir! He upgraded our base booking to a Sunset Beach Pool Villa and also arranged a night in a Sunrise Overwater Villa, so we enjoyed both classics. The room switch was seamless – luggage moved while we had lunch, and Akobir personally showed us the overwater facilities. He also arranged a late check‑out and speedboat timing for our evening flight, plus handled all restaurant and bike bookings. His attentive service made our stay truly carefree. Room experiences: The Sunset Beach Pool Villa opened onto powdery sand, with a private pool facing the golden sunset – romantic and quiet. The Sunrise Overwater Villa gave us a spectacular sunrise view, a glass floor panel to watch fish, and the soothing sound of water at night. Both are wonderful – try both if you can. Dining: We ate at all restaurants on both islands. Veli's Thai (Cumin) and Japanese were good, but our family favourite was Fushi, Dhigu's buffet – huge breakfast variety, fresh juices and fruits, and themed dinners (seafood, grill, local) with quality ingredients. Thursday's free cocktail party was also fun. Activity: We skipped the spa but did the "Aquarium Snorkeling" near the overwater villas – coral and fish so dense it felt like an aquarium. We swam among colourful fish, spotted baby sharks and a turtle, with excellent visibility. No need to go offshore. Bring your own gear or rent easily. Akobir again – he greeted us each morning, checked if we needed anything, coordinated room changes, booked Veli restaurants, reminded us of events, and even suggested snorkelling times. He spoke fluent English and some Chinese. His professionalism was genuine, not mechanical. Overall, Anantara Dhigu exceeded expectations, and Akobir's service removed all stress. We're already recommending it to friends and planning a return with family.
