Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

How should I put it? It was decent. There are restaurants all along the coast when you step out. The hotel itself was okay, but breakfast ended a bit too early. I went down to eat at 9:40 AM and was told breakfast was over. A friendly reminder: when checking in at Big Island, there's a credit card deposit. Upon checkout, I was informed the entire deposit was deducted. I thoroughly checked, and there were no additional taxes or fees payable at the hotel in the local area, so I asked the hotel for an itemized breakdown. They said they couldn't provide one. Trip.com intervened, and the hotel processed a refund.

The twin room with 1.5-meter beds was very comfortable for our family with a child. The hotel's public beach isn't very big, but the waves are calm, which was reassuring.

The hotel is quite good, and they even gave me a gift. Plus, shopping downstairs is very convenient.

This hotel in downtown Kona, Hawaii, was commendably clean. Although they stated housekeeping was every other day, our room was actually cleaned daily. The hotel facilities are excellent; the pool is open from 8 AM to 10 PM, and the gym offers a comprehensive range of equipment, from cardio to strength training. They even have their own small private beach. Conveniently located downstairs, there are plenty of options for shopping and dining. The breakfast spread is abundant, primarily American-style, with enticing tropical fruits that are sure to whet your appetite. Just outside the hotel is a lively shopping street called Ali'i Drive, where you can find popular ice cream spots and local Kona coffee, both highly recommended. Hawaiian-themed clothing and souvenirs are also readily available. For transportation, I highly recommend renting a car. This makes it incredibly easy to visit attractions like Volcanoes National Park, Black Sand Beach, White Sand Beach, Green Sand Beach, and Mauna Kea. While public buses are free, their schedules are unreliable, with long intervals and frequent delays. Rideshares are convenient for getting to the hotel, but returning from attractions can be risky, with the possibility of not finding a car or facing surge pricing that can exceed $500.

The room I was given was completely different from what was shown on Trip.com. Picture 1 was from the website, and pictures 2 and 3 are of the actual room. My request to change rooms was denied, and the front desk staff were very unhelpful. Book with caution!

Just as I was getting ready for bed at night, a stranger keycarded into my room. It turned out the hotel had accidentally assigned my room to another guest checking in. Also, while check-out is at 11:00 AM, my keycard was already deactivated by 10:50 AM, locking me out. Personally, I have never had such an awful experience.

The hotel room was very clean, tidy, and comfortable. Even though it's a bit older, it was still very pleasant. The only downside was that when we returned from a night dive, we asked the front desk for an extra towel, but it never arrived. We ended up having to make do with the towel that was already soaked from the ocean. Perhaps it was too late, and the staff had already gone to rest. Everything else was great, the hotel environment was beautiful, and the ocean view was stunning. I especially recommend the restaurant next to the hotel; it's definitely worth trying.

The price was quite reasonable, and the hotel's location is excellent, very close to dining options. The staff were patient and enthusiastic, making the overall experience very pleasant. The hotel rooms were clean and hygienic, equipped with water cups and a water filter machine.
