Château Hôtel Edward 1er

Beautifully decorated hotel. Lovely outdoor eating area and attractive pool area Our room was large and nicely decorated. I did find the pillow hard and the duvet too warm. The receptionist was incredibly welcoming and helpful. We ate at the hotel in the evening. The food was very good. I had to try the carrot starter, as at 24€ I expected something exceptional. Although the tahini sauce and herbs were very tasty, there were only 3 raw carrots, so not worth the money. The rest of the meal was very good, apart from my husband’s duck being over-cooked and the prawns not really complimenting the duck. Stand out dishes were the asparagus & truffle risotto & pineapple & sorbet dessert. The breakfast was disappointing. No prepared fruit or fruit salad and eggs were 5€ extra each, similarly smoked salmon and other items we usually eat.

What an amazing hotel we had a big welcome from Isabelle who was just charming we were shown to a beautiful renovated room but it still had all its charm. The whole hotel is just beautiful we had use of the pool which is just so inviting especially with the lovely warm French sunshine. We were lucky enough to have a taster menu on the outside terrace for dinner which was fantastic and the staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable of everything we ate. And the cherry on the cake was the stunning breakfast room it took my breath away it was incredible and the selection for breakfast was the best I have ever seen. We will definitely be returning.

What a fabulous place in such a wonderful medieval village of Monpazier. Isabelle, Michael, and all of the staff provide impeccable service. We felt so welcome and safe here. We have been to many beautiful places and boutique hotels and this is one of our favourites. We ate at the restaurant and it was a delicious meal with fantastic service. We will be eating here again before we return home. The weather has been amazing and the pool delightfully refreshing on hot afternoons. We love the markets and have enjoyed driving a short distance to beautiful places such as Domme, Roque and Issigeac.

Had a perfect one night stay. Clean, calm, comfortable room. Lovely staff. Amazing meal on the terrace. In pretty little town. A real treat. Obviously as it’s not adults only, you may get children in the pool.

The MOST beautiful boutique hotel in the gorgeous setting of Monpazier. Despite the record temperatures for the time of year, the air-conditioned room together with the idyllic pool helped create one of the best holidays we have experienced. Isabelle, Michel and team provided excellent service throughout and we're always on hand when needed. The hotel was spotless and a picture postcard from every angle. Would whole heartedly recommend the Edward 1er as a base for a wonderful stay in this beautiful region of France.

This 19C manor house is in the pretty town of Monpazier, a short walk to the village's shops, restaurants & cafes & an ideal location to explore the Dordogne countryside. Attractively furnished rooms are available for guests to relax in & enjoy a glass of wine before dinner in their excellent restaurant. The buffet breakfast was generous. The pool was also an appealing space to relax in. My attic room was one of their smaller rooms - I travelled solo - but totally charming & had everything I wanted including desk, Nespresso machine & kettle, wifi & satellite tv & rural views.

We seated here for one night. The building is very impressive with a very nice pool area. The room was well equipped but on the small side but this is not unusual in France. We didn’t like the pull out hand held shower attachment which was awkward to use. Breakfast provided an excellent choice of fresh breads, cheeses,meats, yoghurts …. We didn’t enjoy the sausages but the scrambled egg was good. Staff are well trained and very pleasant. I’d definitely stay here again.

From the moment Isabelle warmly greeted us to the moment she said a fond farewell we knew we would return one day. The hotel was wonderful and every member of staff contributed to our stay. Highly recommended. Great location and facilities
