Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake

The service was attentive and thorough throughout my stay. Check-in was a comfortable experience, and the staff were very enthusiastic and accommodating. After dining at the Jinsha Restaurant, I wanted to feed the fish, and to my surprise, they had small portions of fish food available in the lobby – a really nice touch! The garden view is beautiful. A few minor issues: there were quite a few mosquitoes, and the quality of the hotel's paper bag handles was a bit poor. I hope these can be improved. I especially want to praise the hotel's travel photography service. There are so many picturesque spots within the garden, with beautiful scenes at every turn. The photographer was excellent at finding angles and guiding poses; I didn't have to force any poses, and the raw photos already looked fantastic. The new Chinese aesthetic was perfectly captured, and I ended up with many stunning photos.

The first room I was assigned reeked of mold as soon as I opened the door. I asked the front desk why they gave me that room, and they replied that every guest has a different sensitivity to smells. This means the hotel clearly knew the room had a moldy smell, but instead of thoroughly cleaning it and changing the linens, they chose to deceive guests and sell the room anyway, banking on some people not noticing. Isn't that a bit shameful? Does your room hygiene standard depend on whether the guest can detect issues? Should elderly people, children, and less sensitive individuals be taken advantage of? I then requested a room change and was given two options: A) a second-floor room that would take another 20 minutes (it was already 5 PM, and your rooms weren't ready?), or B) another first-floor room. The second room had much less of a smell, but I still noticed a moldy odor from the bedding when I went to sleep. Plus, I suspect this room was a downgrade. I booked a deluxe garden view room, but this room had no garden view, just a fence and a white wall, as shown in the picture. In summary: Only the restaurant service was professional. Everything else was not worth the price; even budget hotels wouldn't have such a strong moldy smell. I will not be returning.

We stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake with our baby. The garden environment was quiet and comfortable, and the service was very attentive. We also dined at Jin Sha restaurant, and the food was delicious, even our baby enjoyed it. We also experienced a Chinese-style travel photoshoot; the makeup and styling were beautiful, and the photographer was great at capturing candid moments of our child, making the photos very memorable. It was a one-stop shop for dining, accommodation, and photography, making it very convenient and a fantastic family-friendly holiday experience.

The breakfast was delicious, and the location was quiet yet central. It was a very comfortable stay. As a guest, it was easy to book a table at Jinsha restaurant, which is a great value 3-diamond Black Pearl restaurant that you definitely have to try.

When I first arrived at the hotel, I was actually very satisfied. The staff at the front desk, both male and female, were excellent. So, without hesitation, I immediately extended my stay for another night. The female staff even helped upgrade the room type for the second night, just so my mom could experience it – I really appreciate that. However, there were some aspects I wasn't too happy about. The musty smell in the room was quite strong, and even in the hallway. Even with the dehumidifier on, the smell was even on the pillows. The kids didn't fall asleep until past midnight, enduring both the musty smell and the loud noise of the dehumidifier throughout the night. Since I had already booked, it felt wrong to cancel the second night last minute, so I just bit the bullet and stayed. The next day, I had a meal at Jin Sha Restaurant, and my taste buds were thoroughly satisfied. Although expensive, it was indeed delicious.

Taking a summer break at the Four Seasons Hangzhou at West Lake was an immersive experience of the serene beauty of a Jiangnan garden. The entire staff provided excellent service, with attentive and thoughtful reception, demonstrating quality in every detail. The unique experiences were rich and fulfilling; the Song-style tea ceremony was full of ancient charm and a wonderfully peaceful experience. The private pier and boat tour were a major highlight, allowing us to float on the lake surrounded by lotus breezes and lush greenery. The garden scenery within the hotel was exquisite. The hotel's photo shoot experience, with the garden corridors and waterside pavilions, provided natural backdrops that truly captured the essence of the place. Finding such tranquility amidst the summer hustle and bustle, balancing dining, entertainment, and photo opportunities, made for a relaxing and ideal West Lake vacation.

I'd call this the ultimate hotel experience, absolutely delightful! Every detail here shows incredible thoughtfulness – from the decor and the grand fresh flower arrangements in the lobby, to the wide variety of options at the breakfast buffet, the fantastic vibe in the room, and the attentive, warm service from the staff. It truly was a highlight of my unforgettable trip to Hangzhou.
