We love Carter Caves! All the Kentucky State Park Lodges are absolutely wonderful- comfy beds, balcony view, well-appointed rooms, pools, friendly staff, and the obvious plus of being in a State Park but in comfort!

Everything was awesome. Caves were great, staff helpful and friendly: wish we had known the horse stables weren’t open this year as we were planning that. But other than that all was perfect. Cabin was large and roomy.

Restaurant dining was outstanding! Great meals at seldom seen prices in this day and age, especially breakfasts.
The only real concern was with other guests allowing their dogs to bark endlessly. Complained at main desk but no improvement.

Take into account, this is a State Park, not a private resort.
I personally prefer supporting public families than private business. Sure, it's not as fancy or updated in decor or appliances, but it is clean, with a focus on sustainable products, which messages with my values. It is a BEAUTIFUL setting. I look forward to my next stay there!

I had to cut my stay short due to 50 kids and their supervisors staying on the 2nd floor above me and the noise of busy feet. However, I understand fair housing rules and the staff was empathetic, and issued a refund. I wasn't happy I was charged a 2nd night because I checked out after 3pm, but that is when the noise started, if it started earlier I would have checked out earlier. But the staff is always great and I will always stay there when in Kentucky. I will probably ask for a 2nd floor however to avoid the same issue, but they are great there!!
