This hotel offers excellent value for money if you don't opt for a room with a private onsen. The public onsen is huge and has a great variety of baths. The hotel provides a shuttle bus directly from Sapporo for 1000 yen per person one way. It's a popular and economical choice, as many Japanese guests also use this service. We booked another hotel with a private onsen for one night, so this hotel without one was perfect for the other night. We could have easily spent the entire day at this hotel and not gone out. The next day, we planned to visit Jigokudani (Hell Valley), so checking in around 4 or 5 PM felt just right and wasn't a waste of money. I saw reviews saying the food was average, so we didn't book meals here. Instead, we headed to the onsen town, which was very convenient.

Fantastic stay! The breakfast buffet was plentiful and fresh, offering both Western and Japanese options – excellent value for money. The tatami room was comfortable and cozy. The onsen (hot spring) area had an amazing number of baths, with three or four different types of indoor and outdoor springs to choose from. After a soak, I felt completely refreshed and relaxed. The sauna was clean and tidy too. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it! The street isn't long, so it's convenient to get to the bus stop from any hotel. Buses depart regularly for Noboribetsu Station.

Good stay overall, some difficulties communicating with staff as their english may not be the most fluent. Buffet dinner was not bad with good quality crab legs. Rooms are abit dated but clean.

The biggest highlight was the Onsen. The biggest Onsen I’ve ever seen. So many pools and clean. I like the outdoor pool the most, with trees around and children friendly. Buffet dinner is another highlight as wide variety of selection including crabs!! Room is simple tatami style, bed was comfy. Walking distance (about 10mins) to the Hell Valley. We went for the short hike to Oyunuma Pond. Worth the walk as weather was great. Then we went to the Onsen for shower, again 😃

-spacious room but when the futon is made, there will be no place to walk. -large onsen area despite the number of guests staying, it doesn't feel crowded. (but the makeup and hair dryer area is limited) -good location with 7-11 and seico mart in front of the hotel and walkable distance to Jigokudani valley. -dinner buffet has various options with okay quality (my comment is it looks good but the food is not hot). Sashimi and crab leg is my best. -breakfast is also okay but don't be late cause they don't refill the food when its nearly closing time. -B1 floor has amusement zone which contains lot of games each for 100yen (it's a good price)

We spent two nights in Noboribetsu and tried two different hotels, before the Daiichi Takimotokan and the second night, this one. While the first was more organised, with buffet breakfast inclused and cheaper, the pools of the Mahoroba hotel were nicer and the temperature of the Onsen ambient more enjoyable (fresher than the other). We chosen the traditional japanese style room and they come in the room between 6 and 8pm when you are not there to switch from day to night time configuration. They allow small tatoo at the Onsen (our were between 5-10cm big, and discreet).

Cons: Easy to check in. Thre was onsen inside the hotel. Within walking distance to ropeway station to the Bear Park and other attractions.There is tax free souvenir shop at the lobby. Pros: Room is small for family of 4. There was dist in the room
