Furthermore, the hotel's information about activities was very lacking. Many non-experiential activities were not on the calendar, and the staff didn't offer any introductions. We arrived on a Thursday, and that evening there was a once-a-week performance and happy hour. If we hadn't happened to walk by on our way from the pool, we would have been completely unaware. The next evening, after eating at the Indian restaurant, we took a walk and discovered that the Vietnamese restaurant had a 'street food' event that night, which we were also completely unaware of. Perhaps the staff who checked us in lacked training, and this significantly detracted from the experience.
Upon checking out, there were several men, dressed differently in what looked like management uniforms, standing at the main entrance. They offered no help or warm greetings whatsoever. I have no idea what their purpose was.
Now for some positive points: Almost all the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Some restaurant staff even remembered our names. The only time I encountered a lazy pool staff member was when they made eye contact but didn't come to lay out towels; other than that, everyone was great.
In the mid-afternoon, staff at the pool would hand out iced fruit or popsicles, which was very nice. The stir-fried morning glory at the Vietnamese restaurant was delicious.
Overall, it was decent but nothing special, and the value for money was average. I'd rather spend a bit more and stay at Amanoi.
