Amankila

I came to Bali just for Amankila, because Aman itself is a destination, especially the earliest properties (before they were acquired by the Russian magnate). Amankila is the third Aman worldwide, and I happened to stay here around the Ghost Festival, enjoying several full moon nights and even participating in a full moon blessing ceremony by the sea. During my stay, I was told several times that the Amankila villas are the best choice here, offering the best views, which is indeed true. I wonder how the new wing, slated for completion next year, will be, as it will be situated on even higher ground. The thirty-year-old beachfront property is exceptionally well-maintained. Of course, Aman's best offering is always its service – the people. The drivers, Monku and Koman, Leena at the front desk, Resma, Astika, Kaci, and several other beautiful, unnamed girls at the restaurant, Ali the sommelier, the gentleman who chatted with me for a long time during afternoon tea at the bar, and the young men who cleaned our room and courtyard every day – thank you all for taking such good care of us 🙏. At Aman properties in Europe and America, you often feel a hierarchy among the staff, with a stark contrast between the cautious, deferential lower-level employees and the outgoing, talkative higher-ups. But here, everyone welcomes you, cares for you, and accompanies you as hosts, and I particularly love this atmosphere. On the morning of our departure, the first white lotus flower bloomed in the pond outside our window – perfect. Even though I can't swim, I will miss this sea and will definitely return.

This Aman was pretty standard. As it was my first time visiting Bali with my elderly parents and child, I opted for a beachfront hotel. However, there are other Aman properties in Bali that are also worth experiencing for a couple of days to enjoy different scenery. The hotel is currently undergoing expansion, so construction sites are visible, and you'll encounter construction vehicles and workers on the roads. During the day, the sound of large vehicles passing by can be heard from the room, slightly impacting the experience. The service was generally good. They met all the needs of my parents and child during our stay. My only complaint is that they forgot to provide a car seat for my child on the way to the airport from the hotel. The food was quite good, especially the local Indonesian specialties. The other Italian restaurant was just so-so. The scenery is lovely. For swimming, I recommend the beach club pool; it has beautiful views, is quiet and wind-free, and has shady trees by the poolside, making it very pleasant. If you're planning an East Bali tour, remember to bring some cash. You'll need to give a donation when entering villages. I was in such a rush that I didn't carefully read the hotel's information and assumed everything would be covered, which caused a slight delay when entering a village. Hygene: There were almost no mosquito issues in the room, but we did encounter a small black snake that fell from a tree on the path outside.

Overall, it was okay, considering the price. The facilities are a bit old, and it's quite a distance from the airport. We used our own transportation and didn't opt for their airport transfer service.

I come here every year, and the atmosphere is always great. It's a fantastic vacation spot. The service is excellent. Taking a boat to watch the sunrise and having dinner on the beach are experiences I highly recommend. Honestly, I can't find a single fault with this place.

This hotel is perfect for a vacation! It offers great privacy and the service is incredibly thoughtful. They provide complimentary airport transfers, and the butler was very courteous. Before checking in, I booked a private black sand beach dinner and a sunrise boat trip for the next morning. The ocean was stunning, and the dinner was a custom-made menu for the day. During check-in, the butler even asked about any dietary restrictions I might have, which just goes to show how incredibly attentive they are. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

Flawless! Absolutely amazing 💗💗💗 So relaxing. The massage is highly recommended. Definitely the best experience in all of Bali – a must-go!

The service was excellent, and the hotel offered a wide variety of activities.

Our reservation was from Dec 31st to Jan 3rd. The hotel didn't offer any New Year's Eve activities in advance, nor did they proactively offer airport pick-up service (which was included in the booking). We only found out after asking ourselves. Other than that, the butler service and restaurant food were excellent 👍
