Sydney Central Hotel managed by The Ascott Limited

The room was super comfortable, and the location is great – right between Sydney University and Circular Quay. It's really easy to get around by public transport. You can also walk to Darling Harbour, the Fish Market, Hyde Park, or the Royal Botanic Garden. The hotel breakfast was good too, definitely recommend it.

Had a really satisfying stay in Sydney this time. The hotel is surrounded by eateries, and Chinatown is just a 2-3 minute walk away. It's right in the city center, super close to the light rail, bus, and train, so getting around is incredibly convenient. The hotel staff also deserve a shout-out, especially Matthew! He checked us in on the first day and was incredibly professional and patient. 😊

The bedsheets were stained. The facilities are outdated, and the soundproofing is poor, especially the doors. There was a musty smell from the carpet. The bed was too soft, with multiple layers of old mattresses. The sheets were too small, covering the head of the bed but not the foot. The bedside lamp was covered in dust. The bathtub and showerhead were ancient and very inconvenient to use! I wouldn't recommend staying here if the price is over 600 RMB.

This is one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I never write negative reviews, but this hotel truly deserves a big one. There was a serious problem on the very first day of check-in. My mother accidentally slipped and fell while showering in the hotel room, resulting in severe spinal pain. This not only reflects the severe lack of anti-slip measures in the bathroom but also raised significant concerns about the hotel's basic safety. For a hotel that claims to be high-end and for long-term stays, such a safety hazard is completely unacceptable. The next day, the toilet sink in the room became severely clogged. We reported the situation to the front desk immediately, but even upon returning to the hotel that evening, the problem still hadn't been fixed, and there was no explanation or feedback during that time. For a normally operating hotel, this level of efficiency is truly disappointing. Even more unacceptable was the extremely disrespectful behavior towards guests during this period: After the room was cleaned, my mother's pajamas were casually thrown from the bed onto the floor, clearly by the cleaning staff. We reported it to the front desk, and they said they would "handle it," but for three consecutive days afterward, there was absolutely no response, apology, or remedial action. Furthermore, the hotel's overall facilities are very old, which is severely inconsistent with the promotional pictures and brand positioning. The rooms are dated and poorly maintained, completely failing to meet our expectations for an Ascott property. The only thing that could勉强 be called a positive is the relatively good location and the polite attitude of the front desk staff. However, this is far from enough to compensate for the safety issues, outdated facilities, service negligence, and lack of basic respect for guests. Overall, this hotel is not worth the price and does not live up to the Ascott brand's positioning. I strongly advise travelers with elderly companions or those with basic expectations for accommodation quality to choose carefully, or even avoid this hotel altogether.
