YoHo - International Youth Hostel

Salzburg is kinda pathetic in the hostel department. Fortunately though, Yoho is pretty nice. The dorms and bathrooms are kept clean and in good repair. The lounge is solid and the bar is pretty lit — tons of people and super social. The crowd in the summer skews towards students, no surprise, so grown-up nomads beware in the high season. I still had a pretty easy time getting work done and managed to meet a ton of people. All in all, great place. I'd totally stay there again.

As an “older” person, I had never considered a youth hostel before, but as hotel prices are high in Salzburg, the cost of the hostel fitted my budget. Appreciated the coffee and chocolate bar on checking-in. I shared a 6 female dormitory. It was self-contained with a shower and toilet just for our use. Everywhere was clean. The bunk was comfortable with a light and plug. Fortunately, my fellow roommates were very interesting and considerate. I enjoyed watching the Sound of Music film in the lounge which is shown every evening at 8pm. As it was raining heavily it was a fun way to spend the evening.

On arrival I could not check in but was able to leave my bags in a luggage room. Once check in opened there was a big queue, and only when you got to the front of the queue did you realise that there was a form you had to fill in before you was able to check in, which meant you had to come out of the queue fill in the form and re-join the queue. Rooms were big, as were the beds and lockers. No privacy curtains. Shower rooms were on a different level to where my bed was. I had to go upstairs as I was female. Kitchen was nice, but had very basic cooking facilities. Great price.

Booked a private room with own toilet and shower. The room is located on the 1st floor and we had our own little balcony facing the entrance. Since this is a hostel, towel is provided but you need to pay a deposit of 5eu which is refundable on check out. Also, when you check out, you need to remove all the bed sheets and pillow cases and drop in a basket. No shampoo/shower gel was provided here. There was also no AC, and when we arrived we didn't noticed this until we were about to sleep. So when we asked the reception they provided right away, but it was dirty and dusty so I have to clean it first before using. This also 10-15mins walk to the Salzburg HBF train station and easily accessible to the city center. Stayed for 2 nights and they provided a free bus tickets that we can use for the whole duration of our stay, unlimited. There was also an area where they play the Sound of Music every night. A bar for drinks. And a kitchen area with fridge, microwave and coffee amenities. There's a food vending machine that accepts only cash. And a laundry area for a fee. Overall a good stay and a good way to meet other travellers. They also provide a whatsapp group chat where you can contact each other in the hostel and plan trips, which is really cool!

We had a really good experience at Yoho. The staff members were nice, the location is from walking distance to the town center and railway station... and... we had a 6-beds dormitory, with really nice mattresses, clean rooms and private ensuite bathroom & toilets. That was appreciated. Thanks !

On arriving at the Hostel I was early for my check in but was offered to either store my luggage or wait for check in. I decided to wait, as it wasn't long until check in. (At this point I could have been handed a form everyone has to fill in, in order to check in - But I wasn't, so when checking in I was given the form to then have to leave the queue, fill in, and re-join the back of the queue). I paid my city tax, and was given a key card to my room. The door to the room was already open, and the room was spacious with big lockers for your luggage that was connected to your key card. Comfortable beds, but when you put your night/bed light on it illuminates the room to the point where another traveller asked if the main light could be turned off and it was, it was just someone's bed light that made the entire room light up. I had to go up one level of stair to get to the female showers, which was fine. The showers were nice and had a dry shelf where you could store your clothes for getting out of the shower. There was mixed toilets on all floors, but not enough to cater for the amount of people in one room, let alone an entire floor. There was a kitchen as well as a bar area. The kitchen had a vending machine, microwave, and a fridge. Not much cooking facilities or utensils. Great location, within walking distance of the Mirabell Gardens and City centre.

I stayed at the hostel for 2 nights & really enjoyed it. The hostel is very clean, warm and comfortable. The staff are also very welcoming and I didn't feel I was just a number. Also met some great fellow travellers which added to the experience! Would definitely recommend.🙂

Overall a very commercial feeling hostel, very large and everyone keeps themselves to themselves. Not many toilets for the amount of people, especially when one was out of order. Luck of the draw when it comes to rooms - my room was very sociable and I made good friends there, however others seemed very quiet. Would recommend, but there are definitely more social hostels for solo travellers.

YOHO salzburg was in a great location with a great bar. The service was adequate, with staff willing to help when they could. The only issue experienced at this stay was how hot the rooms were. I would not recommend visiting in the summer months
