InterContinental Hotels LYON - HOTEL DIEU by IHG

The hotel is a historic building, supposedly a former papal residence, with nearly a thousand years of history. Intercontinental has tastefully blended the modern with the historic. The bedding is very comfortable, and breakfast is good. The only unbearable drawback is their service, which can only be described as terrible. I booked two rooms, and one of them wasn't cleaned at all for an entire day; amenities weren't replenished, and even the phone and lamp switch didn't work. Also, a staff member knocked twice and then just walked in before we could even respond, which startled my child. The worst part was my wife was just about to step out of the shower – this is truly unacceptable. Is this what they call Western etiquette? Furthermore, customer service was slow; it took an hour just to get two bottles of water. The only highlight of the service was the valet parking, who proactively offered us some bottles of water for our journey. I hope other Trip.com users consider this carefully before booking; the service software is really lacking and doesn't match the excellent hardware.

The hotel's location is excellent, with plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. The breakfast is top-notch, and it's situated within a historic landmark, making it a prominent building in Lyon's Presqu'île World Heritage site. The service was just average.

The hotel's architecture is grand, and the service is excellent. The twin beds are quite wide, making for a very comfortable sleep. There's also an art exhibition in the hotel's courtyard, which was interesting to browse.
