Hotel Maderno

We had a lovely short break stay during August 2026, and would definitely return. Ideal location, a stones throw to the lake with stunning scenic views. Staff worked so hard and were always available. Rooms/hotel a little dated in areas but added to the rustic charm of the venue, grounds were constantly being tended too. The beds were slightly uncomfortable due to being so hard/solid but that was our personal preference. Pool area provided plenty of entertainment for our children and lots of loungers available. Breakfast was plentiful and a nice quality, with regular replenishment. Thank you for having us to stay.

We were very satisfied overall with our stay. The breakfast was excellent and the pool area was very pleasant. The floors in the room could have been cleaned a bit better, but otherwise the room and bathroom were well maintained. The beds were comfortable, and the hotel itself has a charming, older character.

I don't think we could have stayed at a more welcoming and beautiful hotel in Toscolano Moderno. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the variety and quality of food at breakfast was superb, the pool was super clean and refreshing on a hot day. We appreciated the shutters on the windows at night to keep any light out and the air conditioning provided a very comfortable sleep. Everyone who stayed seemed so cheerful. There was a small fridge and safe available and really nice vegan shower gel, shampoo and conditioner to use too. There is a pharmacy and supermarket just across the way. The supermarket sells suncream. We plan to return and would not hesitate to recommend staying here.

Great staff, great garden, great pool, great location!

Had a great weeks stay at this hotel . Everywhere spotlessly clean . Food excellent, plenty of choice for breakfast . Evening meal at least 4 or 5 courses. Staff very friendly & helpful . Provided take away breakfast on the day we left at 6.00am .Well run family hotel , thoroughly recommend it.

The room was clean and pretty. We had a beautiful view of the garden. The staff is very kind and gave us a lot of advice for planning our trip better by motorcycle. I highly recommend this hotel and its restaurant. I loved the cacio e pepe very much!

The two gentlemen on reception who are either the owners or managers, are not really suitable for front of house. The hotel had been nicely modernised inside. The rooms ( I think ours were basic ) were small, but clean . The pillows were so hard it was like sleeping with your neck on a kerb. The pool area was lovely, towels were available. The food. Breakfast was fine, the evening meal was another story. We made the mistake on the first night of having a drink before our meal, going into the dining room at about 8.15. The room was empty and very little food left. The following nights we went earlier, but the food was very poor. Dishes that you were not sure what they were, a tray of pasta in a tomato sauce, but overall, very unappetizing. Dessert was lucky of their was any, or frozen centre in the cake. The waiting staff were in need of some training, clearing one or two plates here and there, they were vey inefficient The saving grace of this hotel is Angela who worked in the bar/pool bar. She was enthusiastic, efficient, funny, chatty learning english as she went along, she is an asset to the hotel. The final unbelievable moment was paying our bar bill They didn't take cards ! A hotel of this size didn't have a card reader. we were told this information was in the room in the room information booklet in the room. ( we obviously hadn't read this ). In this day and age it was incredible that a hotel of this size cannot take card payments.
