This review is for travelers looking for an affordable yet decent hotel, and who are familiar with the unique vibe of Khao San Road. The Wild Orchid is in a fantastic, quiet, and peaceful location. Within 5 minutes, you'll find a 7/11 with outdoor seating overlooking a small park. Directly opposite is a pier with water taxis and a bus stop for both airports. My room had a charming balcony, and I didn't mind the rooftop view at all. The room comes with a kettle, tea, coffee, and two bottles of water. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The pool is small and gets a lot of sun during the day, so I opted to swim later in the evening. Guests at the hotel were very well-behaved. I will definitely choose this hotel for future trips to Bangkok.

It's said we got a gift of 10% discount. However when we presented it, we found no difference between with and without the 10% discount. Anyway this is just a minor thing. To stay in this hotel, the best type of room is with a balcony. We are happy to stay there.

Booked for my cousin who was travelling alone. I stayed here in feb last year and highly rated the location hence my recommendation to him. He enjoyed his stay and had no complaints other than the slightly dated washroom. There is no elevator so be prepared to carey your own hevay bags up several flights of stairs if you are on higher floors.

The location is really convenient. You can walk to the Grand Palace and the National Museum in about 20 minutes. It's also very close to the Chao Phraya Express Boat pier, where you can catch a boat to Asiatique (the Ferris Wheel night market) or ICONSIAM. Plus, there are tons of street food stalls nearby serving authentic Thai dishes.
