The staff was the only problem I had. I found them to be unfriendly. Didn’t really get to use the amenities.

The hotel itself was nice, but having to pay separately for breakfast and it not being complimentary was definitely disappointing. On top of that, they were having plumbing issues and the horrible smells throughout parts of the stay honestly made it hard to fully enjoy the experience.

Had a problem with the staff after being checked in almost two hours after the check in time. I was sent to the wrong room and was forced to move to another room. When I went to the front desk to request the phone number to register a complaint with the senior leadership, the person at the front desk refused to provide the number and insisted that she had no responsibility for the mixup and it was my fault that I did not hear her as I entered the elevator. No one was sent to the inform me of the mixup until we were in the room and had started unpacking. That attitude persisted from her during our entire stay. Great location, very historical, the staff needs an attitude adjustment. I worked as a District Manager in a retail grocery chain with over 3,000 associates working in my area. I always told the Team that “We are in the Customer Service Business, we just happen to sell food. The clerk behind your desk did not deliver that service.

A wonderful place to stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a fair size and well furnished. Everything was clean and in good condition. Very safe location with lots of walking trails in the area. In fact, it seemed like there were dozens of people out walking at every hour of the day, mostly students. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The Cook Hotel is a hidden gem located right on LSU’s campus. The rooms are well appointed, the breakfast is great, and the gift shop is another bonus! I have stayed here 3 times in the last 8 months and since my son will be a freshman in the Fall, I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else!

This is a good place to stay. Very nice, looking hotel, very good lunches, I noticed that the hotels website rates are substantially less than going through a booking company,?

Our son goes to LSU so we frequent Baton Rouge and stay in hotels every time we visit. I have never stayed at the Cook due to pricing and availability during game days. But, this time we visited BR for a baseball game and the hotel price was within our budget so I booked it expecting perfection after reading reviews on LSU Facebook pages. It was not perfection, it was good but definitely not perfection. But, I should have known that since it is in Louisiana (I grew up in Louisiana). There was hair in our shower, the shower handle didn't work properly (we had to finagle it to get it to turn off), there were Mardi Gras beads and water bottle caps under the edge of the bed, there are not enough plugs near the bed to charge your phone and there aren't any hooks in the secondary sink area. On Saturday night, they didn't have any washcloths to give us. The poor guy who brought us towels had to go "hunt them down" and brought us what he could. The bar is a complete joke. My son has more alcohol at his house than this bar had. We were there early (around 6 pm) and the guy told us when I went to get a refill on my champagne that they didn't have any more champagne glasses so I had to hand him my used one. Employees were nice and helpful and overall, the hotel was nice but it certainly didn't knock my socks off like I expected it to. Disappointing.

We had another great stay at The Cook. It is so convenient for visiting our daughter on the LSU campus. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. We absolutely love the LSU store across from the main desk. It is a hidden gem for LSU fans. The gentleman who worked there was also extremely kind and helpful. We would recommend staying at The Cook if you’re ever in the area.
