Baiyoke Sky Hotel Bangkok

Every year we visit Bangkok to pay respects at the Erawan Shrine, and this time we decided to try the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, despite its mixed reviews online. I was a bit apprehensive, but honestly, my only thought after staying there was – why didn't I come sooner! 1) Service and Check-in: The front desk staff were very friendly and polite, and check-in was quick. After checking in, they not only gave us a fruit cocktail voucher for the 83rd floor but also an ice cream coupon for the kids, which was a really thoughtful touch. 2) Room Experience: We stayed on the 55th floor in a room with a 1.8-meter king bed and a 1.3-meter single bed. The room was very spacious. Although it's an older hotel, and the facilities show their age, the room was very clean. Besides a refrigerator, it also had a bathtub for the kids to play in, but the best part was undoubtedly the breathtaking, unobstructed Bangkok city view. 3) Breakfast and High-Altitude Experience: During our stay, we had all our meals at the restaurant on the 83rd floor. The food selection was incredibly rich and varied. The restaurant staff were not only very friendly but also quick to replenish dishes. Plus, with our room key, we could access the 360-degree revolving viewpoint on the 84th floor for free, both day and night, offering panoramic views, including the Chao Phraya River in the distance. The view was absolutely stunning. 4) Surroundings and Night Market: Right downstairs from the hotel is Pratunam Market, Bangkok's largest wholesale center, and next door, Platinum Fashion Mall boasts over 2,000 shops. The Pratunam Night Market is also right beside the hotel, offering endless browsing for days. Just a left turn downstairs, you'll find massage parlors, a 7-Eleven, and various restaurants. Central World and Big C are also only about a 15-minute walk away. The only minor drawback is that the street downstairs can be a bit chaotic, a stark contrast to the hotel, but its convenience and lively atmosphere make up for it. I personally love this authentic local vibe. 5) Transportation Convenience: It's a 5-10 minute walk to Ratchaprarop Station on the Airport Rail Link, which takes you directly to Suvarnabhumi Airport in 25 minutes. One stop further to Phaya Thai makes it convenient to transfer to the BTS Green Line. If you want to avoid crowded subways or BTS during peak hours, it’s also easy to hail a taxi using Grab or Bolt right outside. In summary, while Baiyoke Sky Hotel is an older establishment, it has been renovated, and our stay was excellent. Next time we're in Bangkok, we'll definitely be back to stay here again!

The room was spacious, but the air conditioning and exhaust fan were a bit noisy. The AC was a wall-mounted knob type with only three fan speeds. The area downstairs was a bit chaotic with a night market in the mornings and evenings, quite a contrast to the hotel itself. The highlights were definitely being the tallest hotel in Bangkok, with great indoor photo spots on the 78th floor and the amazing rotating indoor observation deck on the 84th floor. There's also an outdoor pool, a fruit shop, a buffet restaurant, and a cafe, so you could easily spend an entire day without leaving the hotel.

Excellent service, attentive staff, comfortable and clean room with a luxurious bed and crisp white linens. They even provided shampoos, coffee, tea, and tangerines as a welcome gift!

A wonderful, beloved hotel! Beautiful, clean rooms with amazing views. The breakfasts are delicious with an extensive menu. The staff are very responsive. We'll definitely come back if we're in Bangkok.

The soundproofing isn't great, and the facilities are a bit old, giving it a dated feel. The room was spacious but had a strange odor. However, being right above a shopping mall and a lively area makes it incredibly convenient for shopping and errands. Plus, it's only about a 10-minute walk to Central Mall.

Good hotel with panoramic views of all of Bangkok. Shops and an aquarium are nearby. It has everything you need for a stay, including a bathrobe, slippers, and toiletries.

Stayed with my 10-year-old child. We absolutely loved the hotel; the room was clean and cozy. The view from the 73rd floor was simply amazing! The pool wasn't deep but it was clean. The staff were friendly, and both check-in and check-out were quick. We enjoyed everything, thank you.

We booked a Sky Zone room (advertised as 50 sq. m. or more). We tried to cancel the reservation a few days before check-in, but cancellation wasn't possible. In the end, we were left with a lot of disappointment. Here are the downsides that ruined our entire experience: 1. **Room Size and Condition.** The actual area was significantly smaller than advertised. The room was very old, with critically low lighting and an unpleasant, persistent odor. The air conditioners were dirty and noisy, with huge clumps of dust sticking out of the filter – absolutely unsanitary. 2. **Uncomfortable Bed and Bedding.** Don't expect soft, crisp sheets. The linen was old, pilling, and worn out. 3. **Lack of Drying Rack and Fresh Air.** There was no drying rack, and the only air was stale from the dirty, smelly air conditioner. 4. **Problematic Bathroom.** The ceilings were very low. My husband, who is over 180 cm tall, had the shower head at neck level and had to bend down to wash his hair. The faucet on the sink was wobbly, and there were practically no shelves. There were terribly few hooks/hangers in the shower. The toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, gel) came in tiny plastic tubes, and the quality was awful; they left our hair feeling stiff. By the way, using so many disposable tubes is not eco-friendly. 5. **General Filth.** The carpets on the floors had stains and an odor. The windows were dirty and dull – the advertised 'feature with views' turned into a disappointment. You could only properly see the city at night when the smudges were almost invisible. There's an observation deck, but we only went up once in 3 days. 6. **Breakfast.** We went to the 82nd-floor breakfast, and it was utterly tasteless. The fruit was poorly cut ('like for livestock'). The tables were arranged so that people constantly brushed past you. The dining room staff and housekeepers were extremely unhappy, arrogant, and didn't even greet us. The staff at the lobby reception and the employees assisting with luggage at the elevators were friendly, and we thank them for that. The housekeepers and food service, unfortunately, were terrible. 7. **Hotel Surroundings.** The hotel is near the metro and a shopping center. However, stepping outside puts you in what feels like a slum: dirty, lots of vendors, trash, an atmosphere like Delhi. Moving around near the hotel was extremely unpleasant. **Pros (modest ones):** * Fantastic view (better at night through the dirty windows). * The work of the lobby and luggage staff. * Presence of an observation deck. **Conclusion:** This is not a hotel I'd want to return to. The view is the only thing it has going for it. For everything else (dirt, smells, rude staff, room discomforts) – a solid 'two' (out of five). Plus one point only for the view and the guys in the lobby. You're better off choosing another hotel in this area; there are plenty. We don't plan on coming back.
