Mangrove Dongdaemun

location was fantastically located near the dongdaemun history and culture station exit 4 - connected to the blue, green and purple line so getting to places like seongsu, handing, myeongdong and even seoul station is super convenient. suitable for solo travellers where you can have an entire room for yourself with toilet and amenities are crazy good - common kitchen to cook up a ramyeon meal, laundry room to wash clothes ( note that only liquid detergent is allowed), a working area, cinema, gym and and event conference room and yoga room. all open for all to book.

Nice stay with convenient location. This is my second time staying here for solo trip. The room is decent and spacious for solo travellers.

Really enjoyed my stay here! The location is amazing, it’s only a 3 minute walk from Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, which is conveniently connected to the blue, green, and purple subway lines. It’s also within walking distance of DDP, Gwangjang Market, Cheonggyecheon Stream, and plenty of eateries and late-night shopping spots, including Nyu Nyu Wholesale and Mimiline. The facilities were amazing, and the place was extremely clean. I especially loved the co-working space, and the free laundry and dryer service was a huge plus (though you’ll need to bring your own detergent). The water dispensers were also much appreciated. The common areas also always smelled amazing. My only downside was that the storage space in the shared dormitory I stayed in was quite limited, so I had to keep my luggage in front of my bunk throughout my stay. Since it's a shared dormitory, there's also always a bit of a gamble when it comes to how mindful and clean your roommates are. But thankfully, there was daily housekeeping for my room type. Still, it’s an amazing place, well worth the price, and I would definitely stay here again and again!

Mangrove has been on my list for a long time and I finally got to book it for a solo stay. The entire experience felt more like a more upscale hostel than a hotel, from the room layout to amenities. You have everything you need though, from an ensuite toilet to a bed, a desk and even a fridge. The room was also well soundproofed, so I couldn't hear my neighbours. Airport bus 6001 takes you right to its doors if you alight at Tokyo Inn Hotel, and Exit 4 of the subway nearby has a lift so taking the AREX is not an issue either. A laundry room with free washer and dryer is really a plus, though bring your own detergent. There's also small but rather decently equipped gym with threadmills, free weights and a rack that you could book for access. Cafe on the ground floor serves pretty good coffee for the price - sweet little notes on the lid was well-appreciated! Downsides: The room was definitely showing some wear and tear. They don't affect functionality but it's still alarming to see these really deep cracks. The property is also almost entirely self-service from check in to check out, so do expect to be doing things and troubleshooting yourself as much as possible. There was also barely any space left to walk after opening up my luggage in the single room. A/C gets automatically turned off by 9? 9.30am but you could turn it back on if you wish. Overall, I will recommend this place to someone who don't mind a simpler, no-frills experience for the cheaper price tag.
