It’s a boutique-sized hotel, but the location, interior design, in-room amenities, and service were all outstanding.
First off, the location is fantastic. It’s convenient for getting around and not far from most major attractions. Plus, it's right near Gwangjang Market, a lively spot packed with all kinds of authentic local street food, which was super convenient.
The decor features a modern industrial vibe, decorated with photos of various jazz bands and musicians—very stylish, which I really liked.
Even though the room was on the smaller side, the layout was well-thought-out and functional. For instance, the shower had an overhead rainfall head, a handheld sprayer, and smooth hot/cold controls that were easy to switch between. The water pressure was strong and steady, making for a truly refreshing shower. Our room also had a small balcony with a chair and a little round table—a lovely private nook where I ended up writing most of my travel journal.
The service was exceptionally warm and welcoming. The day before our trip, we received a thoughtful email letting us know that shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided, but to pack essentials like a toothbrush and toothpaste. It was super helpful and allowed me to pack light with peace of mind.
For breakfast, they offered three complimentary options for the main item (bagel, panini, or ciabatta), all simple, delicious, and satisfying. The owner and the three staff members were all incredibly friendly. The three staff spoke English, making communication a breeze, and they went out of their way to accommodate our small requests, like lending us a travel adapter and heating up milk for us. Even though the owner didn't speak English, he was super warm and enthusiastic, using gestures to recommend lively nearby spots like Gwangjang Market and Dongdaemun.
We spent four wonderful nights here. Next time I'm in Seoul, I’ll definitely stay at Hotel Brooklyn Blues again.
