We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a cycling trip throughout Southern Sardinia. The stay started badly. We turned up, exhausted and hungry at 2pm, expecting to order lunch, but we were told that the kitchen was closed (despite the room information showing lunch was available until 2.30pm. We couldn’t face cycling down and up the dirt track again, so requested if they could perhaps do a simple plate of bread, cheese and ham. This was not possible, but thankfully they agreed to make us a sandwich. Although grateful, I have never seen a sadder sandwich in my life! Sliced white toaster bread, filled with ham and sliced Edam style cheese - no butter, salad or garnish. It hadn’t even been cut in half! Luckily, after this things improved. The hotel calls itself a “Lighthouse Experience” and I think this is the best way to think of it. In no way is a 5 star hotel - there are none of the facilities and service that you would expect for this category. It is, however, a fascinating building with charming rooms, lovely staff and a fabulous position high up overlooking the sea. The good (v expensive) dinner was served on the pool deck with the benefit of this view, and I will remember the experience for a long time. Breakfast was good, served entirely at table which I like. It was the only hotel out the 12 we stayed in, that did not provide a complimentary bottle of water in the room, despite a sign saying that the tap water was not drinkable. Also, no history or tour was given of the lighthouse, which was a missed opportunity - maybe drink on the roof for all guests at sunset? So I think the way to look at the hotel is not as a 5 star hotel, but more a charming b&b that offers an unusual and memorable experience. One night stay is probably enough.
